My whole mortgage, taxes and insurance on a 15 year loan is about $1600/mo. We are paying extra and will have it paid off in five years.

my grandma is from nebraska. that's about all I can say :dunno:

My gf of 10 years thinks she's a cast member on "The Hills". Ghey.

She's from San Marino, CA so I got some big shoes to fill.

28, married, house, no kids, 2 dogs, 3 cars. Wife is a teacher, has her masters+15, and I make as much if not more than her, depending on how motivated I am.

Interesting... it's sorta true, yet not. Thanks for the quote!

31 in a couple of weeks, one wife, one dog, no kids, 4 cars. Spent too damn long in grad school. Thankfully my wife has left the academic world to work in the pharmaceutical industry, so I can continue being a relatively poor scientist and she can support me in the lifestyle to which I would like to become accustomed!

We just had our offer accepted on a house, so we can stop living like college kiddies in our overstuffed apartment. 2-car garage FTW! But it's a short sale so we'll be stressing out for a while waiting for bank approval. In 2005 the owners paid over $200K more than we offered, had a 3/1 ARM and took it in the ass when the rate adjusted. And there are two banks that have to approve the sale, which means they probably took out a separate loan for their down payment. :bang: Prime example of buying shit you can't afford.

40 years old, married to my 39 year old wife (who looks much younger than she is), with a beautiful daughter who is 21 months old. Own a house (or a mortgage anyway) out of the city on 10 acres with a view of the Texas Hill Country. I have a great job as a Mech Engr doing R&D work for a large R&D firm that is a not for profit, so it is not such a corporate environment. I was designing/developing avionics, UAVs, and tactical water/fuel delivery systems for the U.S. Military. Now I am designing/developing scientific instrumentation and space probes for NASA missions, for Earth orbit, and for a Mars mission. Lots of fun, working with some excellent people, making decent money. The wife also has a good job as a clinical lab scientist.

So that is all of the responsible old guy stuff.

For the kid in me, I am having fun with the turbo Miata, probably spending too much money on it but don't really care because I can now afford to play a bit. I also road race motorcycles with www.cmraracing.com which is probably considered insane by a lot of people's standards but it is a completely mind-warping freaking experience. Sport bikes on a proper track (what they were bred for) shod with race tires is so much fun you have no idea, way better than the street. I still keep Slayer (Reign In Blood, best mosh album ever), Metallica, SOD, Megadeath, etc on the MP3 and have a good headbang session on the way home from time to time. I also speed on a regular basis, and love my radar detector. One of my goals in life is not to have a mid-life crisis. My method of reaching my goal is having fun along the way as much as possible.

This all from a guy who dropped out of high school, worked dead-end jobs and partied paycheck to paycheck for a few years, then got bored with that shit and went to college to become an ME. So, even if you are in your 20s, and things are not quite right, you still have plenty of time to do whatever you want. Life is too short for shitty jobs.

This site is sweet BTW. I'm having a good time here and all of the ideas and knowledge is great. Plus the recent flame session on the lame-o Malibu guy was good fun :giggle:

OK so that was a long post. Hopefully I am following the spirit of the thread here.

WTF is up with the word 'prospero'? Both dictionary.com and babelfish translate it as 'prospero' = 'prospero'. I'll have to ask my Spanish speaking mother-in-law about that one.
