Only casuals play games on the toilet. I browse MTnet.

The real future lies in Oculus Rift + Fleshlight ***** controller

And this is why we decided not to compete with Oculus.

I see absolutely no potential for misuse in such an innovation whatsoever.

Maybe we can sell it to the libertarians then.

So this is kind of interesting:

Gear VR Innovator Edition for GS6 and GS6 edge

From what I gather, it's basically Cardboard optimized specifically for use with the Galaxy S6, interfacing to it via USB and adding some side-mounted controls (touchpad, VCR controls) to compensate for the occlusion of the touchscreen.

For $99 (with coupon until Jul 11), I'm contemplating one just to use with the Oculus Cinema app on the train. I have an 8" Android tablet that I use for movie-watching right now, but it can be less-than-optimal early in the morning when sunlight is pouring directly into the train.

Wasn't sure weather to post this here or the computer specs thread.

However, i am being constrained by USB 2.0. Perhaps a PCI or PCI-Ex1 USB 3.0 card could work? mehh

Borrowing a friends Rift for a few days, just got everything setup (I got a new GPU) and mucked around a bit. Pretty good so far, but all I've played with is some of the demo games. Need to go to bed now, but I'll update if I play any actual good ones.

Also, the new GPU netted me this

Yes, I should probably upgrade my OS before my Vive gets here

Update, Elite Dangerous on rift was pretty cool, felt immersive. But...

EVERYTHING on the Vive has been amazing so far. Productivity on car stuff is going to plummet.

Interesting. How's the content?

Could it be that 1993 is finally going to happen?

Actually, FedX delivered my son's Vive last Thursday, but yeah, they're definitely available.
(and his Oculus Rift arrived a week before that)

Setup/Valve Intro: Very well done, I've had 6 other people go though this and all of them have come away impressed by the immersion. Having someone else poke you with the controller is almost uncomfortable, this rendered object floating in space suddenly touches you in the real world.

The Lab: Fun portal like world, 8(9?) mini games, some of which (the bow and arrow and the arcade game) are worth playing again, some of which are interesting for about 5 min.

Vanishing Realms: RPG - Imagine being in a dark dungeon and you are literally holding (waving around) a torch in one hand and a sword in the other. The lighting from the torch is actually rendered from where you are putting it in space and you have to sheath your sword to pick anything up. To regain health you put food to your face to eat it. You actually have to block with the sword and duck to avoid swinging blows. You can lean out from behind a pillar to shoot an arrow at your foe. The graphics are a bit cartoony but I'm sure that'll get better (some of the scenes in The Lab are hard to tell if they are rendered or real images overlayed on laser scans).

Call of the Starseed: Myst meets the Goonies in VR. I just spent the last 2.5 hours playing this game and the only thing I'm sad about is that I completed it. I will happily give them more money when they come out with more content.

I've got more vanishing realms to play, but I need to look for more games now

Yep I pre-ordered in early April and got mine last week.
