while pistons and rods might be cool. they might end up detracting from the overall understanding of the image. change a iconographic image too much and it becomes unrecognizable.

If one were to change the swords or cross bones. it'd be better to do crossed wrenches. That way it retains the same shape.

 

pistons/rods = automotive technician
swords = swashbuckling corsair
