O: Sorry?

C: 'Ooo, Ah lahk a nice tune, 'yer forced to!

C: Most certainly! Now then, some cheese please, my good man.

O: (lustily) Certainly, sir. What would you like?

C: Well, eh, how about a little Red Leicester.

O: I'm, a-fraid we're fresh out of Red Leicester, sir.

[Due to a typo, I initially found a forum for serious Fleshlight enthusiasts, and it turns out their highest-end models are ALSO capable of setting trees on fire. They're impossible to use without severe burns, but some of them swear it's worth it.]

I'd actually be kind of curious to see Randall Munroe's browser history.

I will try and find the link to an awesome PID site. With animations.

I have spent more time reading up on it than I care to admit. To the point where I was helping my roommate with is controls system homework. And I wasnt in the class.

In other news:

This only happens parked in the lean-to off the side of my house with the drivers door open.

Anywhere else, or doors closed it doesn't happen.

Well, that, plus the fact that as soon as you make any sufficiently cool technology publicly available, and strongly warn people not to use it stupidly, some idiots are going to make YouTube videos of themselves using it stupidly.

Like this guy:

That having been said, I am a *little* surprised that a car which is capable of driving itself, and yet which isn't supposed to be allowed to drive itself unless you're sitting in the drivers seat with your hands on the wheel, doesn't have some means of noticing that nobody is sitting in the drivers seat. The first time somebody kills a busload of schoolchildren while doing this, there might be just a teensey little bit of the biggest single-incident product liability suit in the history of the world filed in the general direction of Palo Alto.

I love how google has been talking about how they are testing self driving cars forever. And tesla just releases it. Maybe we're the beta testers.

Maybe? Elon Musk has specifically said that autopilot is a public-beta program.

Which seems like a hilariously dangerous and irresponsible thing to do with a technology that's capable of killing large numbers of people quite easily. God help us if Musk decides to start a company that builds military / police robots.

I love this headline: Elon Musk: Tesla May Limit Autopilot Because People Are Idiots

I'm just wondering if Tesla even *tried* to implement one.

Irony:

A software company is being ultra conservative about beta-testing a new product before letting it anywhere near the general public.

A car company said "**** it" and released the beta version to the public.

On the plus side, it's possible to completely recharge a Tesla S, from 0% to 100%, in about 90 seconds:

Today, I went over to another Miata forum which I hadn't visited in a number of months to try and locate an old post which I'd made that contained a link I was looking for.

The link turned out to be dead, but I did notice something new there which was good for a chuckle.
