Kind of a rudimentary fashion. The Kinect could transfer motion to an avatar but to be able to take motion from one real body and transfer it into motion of another real body is way cooler.

I guess they do somewhat now with sensors, green screens and software. Joe P would know better.

It is cool, but that is actually pretty old ****. I posted a video link to a university student project here a couple years ago showing real-time facial transposition onto a target figure. Even that was eons ago in the AI realm though, as that generation of capability has been wildly surpassed now. This has currently led to a huge effort in AI research circles to develop tools to detect synthesized video, as the current state of the art is well beyond human detection.
