Is this still a thing? I mean, as a discrete, mechanical device?
I'm not a maritime guy, but in the course of my work I did outfitting on the DCL Dream and Fantasy (Meyer Werft hull numbers 687 and 688.) On those ships, propulsion commands were part of the same Siemens integrated control system which also commanded steering, ballast movement, and pretty much every other order which the bridge might send below. I do not recall seeing a traditional mechanical telegraph.

No, there are no longer mechanical EOTs. The throttle control also functions as an EOT when in engine room control. When in bridge control the pointer in the engine room doesn't move.

THERE IT IS!
**** YOU DIRECTLY IN THE GOAT-HOLE, YOU PIECE OF **** LITTLE DEFECTIVE OVERCURRENT SUPPRESSOR!
I have been trying to talk to a spacecraft in orbit around the earth for nearly a week without success, and you are seriously the root cause of my problems?
Die in hell. I have ordered a complete replacement for not just you, but all of your lot in this pitiful weatherproof enclosure, and shall wield a sledgehammer to ensure that you are removed from service.

There's no possible way that photo wasn't staged. That level of stupidity would tear a hole in the fabric of spacetime were it actually to exist.
Unrelated: I simply cannot wrap my brain around how, in a pre-computer era, people were able to create cutaway drawings of such convincing precision and detail as was commonplace in the 1980s. I've always been fascinated by cutaway drawings of complex mechanical things...
Did you know that Native Americans invented the wire recorder? It's true: your cat has been to outer space, and yet you probably don't even know where you are.
