Except that 'Postmodernism' is a word that doesn't make sense without context. Logically art done in the present can't represent art that hasn't happened yet, simply because it already exists. 'Post Dubstep' is the genre that logically comes after dubstep.

So if that's the context you mean, I would argue that more people in this world are probably familiar with the use of the word "modernist" to describe an artistic movement than are familiar with the use of the word "dubstep" to describe a loud, screeching noise.

Look at Joe knowing about arts.
Postmodernism is a the movement away from the "-isms". The art world no longer moves through periods. Postmodernism is a cover-all statement for where the art world has been since around the 1970s. It is likely that we will never get out of postmodernism, the world is simply to interconnected to allow for a small group of artist elites in Europe to dictate that we are now in a period where all the best art is of a certain type.
To this day I find is quite funny when people talk/complain about "modern art", when its not even a thing anymore. In my experience these people usually own prints of paintings of dolphins or other such garbage.

Of course, even though everyone now has an equal voice, some are still more equal than others.
* = In this context, I am referring to "art" as any artistic work of single authorship, such as a painting, a song, a story, a video, etc. Architecture, while artistic in nature, must be executed in physical material in order to be appreciated, and this process is likely to remain controlled by an "elite" (namely, those who can afford to hire architects and then fund the construction of the buildings which they design) for quite some time to come.
Sculpture also somewhat falls into this category, as traditional sculpture still fails to lend itself to mass replication. 3d printing, of course, is rapidly encroaching upon this territory, though for the time being, high-quality 3d printing is still outside the easy reach of the masses.

If you want to check out some art, one of my friends does some pretty interesting work. Brooke Grucella | Portfolio | School of Art | ASU Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts You can just type her name into google images and find a bunch of stuff by her.
