Opinions on WRX
My girlfriend has an 02 WRX
We just put some new wider tires on it, and now one side in the back rubs whenever you hit a bump.
It's the rear passenger side. It looks significantly lower than the other side.
My friend who works on subarus thinks its the strut. I think it's either the spring or something in the suspension is bent.
For some reason the kid she bought it from put KYB AGXs in the front but not in the rear. all the springs are stock as far as I can tell.
Thoughts?

Would a bad strut really make it sit that much lower though? It doesnt bounce like the strut it bad...
We actually talked about doing this.. She might just buy the rear AGXs and get some eibachs or teins.
I havent been able to find any STI setups on the cheap

I just sold my buddies 05 sti suspension last week for 100..oh well
you might want to check the rest of the suspension out man, unless one of the springs was cut, it definitely should not sit any lower, blown strut or not doesnt matter.
I have 07 wrx springs sitting in my garage btw, if you need them they're yours for 50 shipped.

Yeah I wouldnt think a strut would make it sit any lower..
The alignment was just done and the mechanic didnt say anything about it so I'm hoping nothing is bent up.
Will the 07 springs fit an 02?

all 02-07 springs are the same so yes.
alignment could be good and spring might still be cut. remember: alignment guy is not checking the ride height. he is only checking which way wheels are pointing (ie: camber, caster, toe in, etc)..so he very well could have not even cared about ride height.

I meant that the alignment guy not saying anything about it made me think nothing on the suspension was bent, like the control arms or anything...
I'm asking her about the springs so I'll let you know.

My friend has an '02 GTI and like 3 weeks ago he was driving and hit a bump and something went clunk. Here he broke a coil spring. He says when he bought the car it had cheap knock off lowering springs. Check the springs.
