I think everyone is overlooking the fact that he will forgo the convertible if the car is sexy enough.

You guys don't like ricer, but I am not sure about classic. In my mind, this is a one of a kind and I would treasure having it.

pretty cool, but not up his alley, and yes convertible can be nixed to broaden the choices.

+1 on the Saab.

They aren't common enough to fail turning the occational head. Engineered well enough they are generally trouble-free. Have great safety features and ergonomics. And I see mid- to high-20s for MPG with mixed city driving.

How is it that not a single person has mentioned the Chrysler LeBaron convertible? Edmunds TMV = $494. For $10k, you can buy twenty of them and simply abandon them at the side of the road when they break down.

Funny you should mention it...that is exactly what a buddy and I did back in college...but we only disposed of two.

Turbo Volvos. I'm sure coming from a Chrysler product they will seem like the most amazing cars ever made...

You can pick up low mileage S60 Turbos for 6k.

SAAB!

Good gas mileage, respectable, little bit funky and the 9-3's before the GM takeover were pretty reliable.

If he want's to learn what torque steer is tell him to look for the Viggen version.
