Default Shipping a nitrous tank

I sold a used nitrous tank for one of the shops I'm selling stuff for on ebay. I'm wondering now if I can ship it or not. I didn't even think about it when I listed the bottle. Anyone on here do it before? Its empty, he actually just emptied it into the air.....didn't even use it.

I plan on shipping it USPS since its cheaper. I'm gonna search online about it now, but figured I'd ask here too, seeing one of you might have shipped one before.

Do you think I should keep the valve open or closed? I'm thinking about if it goes by plane whats best....seeing its going to Montana.

I don't think you can ship that bad boy via air. Call the USPS and find out.

let all the presser out and if you can ship it with the valve open so if it gets on a plane it can equalize. tell the person at the place your shipping from, they may have changed rules on shipping air tanks.

To the best of my knowledge, empty gas cylinders can be shipped by air, you just have to declare them. Works for the paintball folks, anyway.

Why would it need to go by air to get to Montana, though? I'm pretty sure they have roads there.

I assumed if I sent it priority mail that it would fly, I could be wrong. I'm gonna give USPS a call and see what they tell me.

Ok just got off the phone with USPS.

As long as its empty and the valve is open I'm good to go.

He said it would be flying. Anything over 500 miles goes by air.

That was easy enough.
