I haven't owned a car that cost more than one paycheck in 6-years.

My daily is special:

No one would ever steal it, and this is somewhat liberating. I can park it outside in Houston and I know it will be there when I get back. If it hails, I don't care.
+1

Having a DD miata is great. FailFlora will just have to get some snow tires for it and he will be fine in the winter.

You know I am indeed seriously considering PRHT NC. Thing is though, I look at the engine and

WTF IS ALL THAT CRAP

The only car I kinda know is the miata and the NC may as well be a different car :(

Who wants to sell me a NB?

Comfy, and you won't be tempted to mod.
If I had a class A motorhome, I would be modifying the ever-loving hell out of it.

Home theater system, stirling engine or turbine genset, solar array, hybrid-electric & biofuel drivetrain conversion with onboard reactor, you name it.

I went back and re-read the original post.
I really want something that is very pleasant to spend time in while I shlep around the DC beltway in stop and go traffic etc.
There's actually a very simple (and cheap) solution here. Lincoln Town Car / Mercury Grand Marquis.

I'm dead serious. Avoid the ones with airbag suspension (it's flakey as hell and expensive to fix), but apart from that, they are reliable cars and pleasant to drive.

NC's are making 280WHP with a bolt on turbo kit. Just sayin'.

I'll sell you my V8 NB in a couple of weeks after alignment and tuning.

Buy some worn out NA/NB and swap in my entire drivetrain. 2560 with p/s & a/c and 3.90 torsen is perfect for a daily driver. You're 'local' enough to be able to pick it up in person and save on the shipping.

I think my shitbox with the 10:1 VVT swap, 6 speed, 3.63, MS2, AST ride Is going to be pretty awesome for daily duty.

I like how this went from "I want a nice, expensive, luxurious car" to "buy a beater miata". I have a 91 rusty body if you want it :P

Forget the turbo for the daily, that's too much money. I'm doing a 10:1 VVT swap, MS2+VVTuner, 6-speed, 3.63, and I already have the ASTs. I don't think I can do another 100*f Texas summer in an 85hp car with the AC going.

"Reasonableness". I look at these people with $600/month car payments, consider my $600 track weekend a few times per year, and realize that I am living my life properly.

Forget no turbo for a daily, that's too slow. I don't think I can do another 100°F NJ summer in a 115hp car with the AC going.
