I have the most awesome miata ever built
and a 04 Forester XT with 3" exhaust
After recently experiencing several thousand dollars of problems with my forester, I'm considering buying a new or almost new car. I have to drive for work. I spend about 25-40% of my "working hours" driving. Lots of stop and go traffic. Lots of city driving.
I already have a MOTHRFUGIN RACECAR and a hauler, but I am thinking about getting something more luxurious for the daily slog. I will probably put about 10,000 miles on it a year.
Obviously, I am a driving enthusiast, so I want something pretty damn quick that can also turn and make me smile. It also needs to be civil as *** to counteract the ridiculousness of my miata and utilitarianism of my forester. Manual is probably preferred unless it's some baller tiptronic type thing since the automatic in my forester started to bother me after I upgraded it. I also want a coupe. Four doors and four seats is for losers with children. My car only needs to carry myself and a girl.
When it comes to financials, I guess after my combined expenses, savings, and mortgage, I have about $1000/month left. Actually more, but I always overbudget. My miata was the most money I ever paid for a car- $16,000. All my friends make less than me and so do many of my coworkers. I don't have kids, pets, wives, or drug habits. I will probably mostly pay cash and lease the rest or borrow from bank of mom (20% family interest rate) and repay in a year or two. I do not like debt.
So my question to the community is a) should I buy a spiffy $50,000 car? and b) if so, what should I buy?

Also, when your car starts frying turbos due to oil starvation, the answer is NOT to keep replacing them without diagnosing said oil starvation.
Your second mistake was getting an auto subaru. Like mixing a teaspoon of fail into a cup of win.

Auto is very important for stress free stop and go on highway and in the city.
$50,000 . . . for a car?
I know you don't like 4 doors, but I really like my G8. It is a civilized cruiser with a warp drive. Really comes in handy when you need to pickup business associates from the airport, etc.
The two door version of the G8 is the Camaro. Problem is, I know that YOU would never be able to resist the mod bug. I have this picture of a sawzalled, twin-turboed, 2000HP Camaro in my head now. Yikes.

For realz I make u a list:
CTS-V (slightly used second gen or slightly used 1st gen for half the price)
CTS (New)
BMW E39 or E60 5 series
G8 (one w/ big V8)
Some Infinity/Lexus/Acura that somebody else will talk about
New Charger/300C
New Taurus SHO
Audi A3
I'll think of more and come back later. Your welcome.
EDIT: Personally I would just get somebody to fix the Subi correctly, and not get a 3rd car. Besides, isn't there some vegan/commie/hippie BS that keeps you from owning a 3rd car?

Also, can you list what you want and what you need in the car? Do you want new or used? Do I understand correctly that $50K is the ceiling, it must have an auto, it must be 4 or 5 doors with the ability to comfortably seat 4 adults, and it'd be nice if the whip is nice enough to impress clients/business associates, without being over the top?
I like playing this game.
