Default Silly Newbie Turbo Question

I was researching the B6 motor and I noted that its a form of the previously produced 323 turbo. Is there a reason that people have not used turbo/awd setups from the B6 323? I know coming from a IS300 background that we used the Toyota supra pistons for added beef and I believe the 323 had more beefy rods. Don't get me wrong, I love my 1.6 and will be boosting that instead of swapping a 1.8 (I have 75k on the clock) but I was just curious.

Yes. It's far easier to get a turbo set up aftermarket for the Miata and (more importantly) the GTX manifold puts the turbo in a space it can't occupy on the miata. That's because the GTX is transverse vs. the Miata.

And to answer your other question, some people do use the rods from the GTX motors
