OK, so i know this guy locally who bought some Audi that had a shitload of work done to it. He ended up getting rear-ended and the ins. wants to total the car out. I told him I wanted the turbo awhile back. Now he is offering it to me for $550... with 20,000 miles on it. See, the guy isn't exactly what we would call smart... as in he said it all went in last year. I don't know if he meant to type 2,000 mi and accidentally hit an extra "0" or what. 20,000 miles in a year and most from the PO and not knowing how the car has been driven.... i offer him $400 and ask if it really was 20,000 miles. Well he replies that it does have 20000 miles and that my offer is too low and that he can sell it on some forum for $1000

Obviously this guy doesn't know how to make counter-offers. It's not like i don't know the guy either, which i could understand if i was some random person trying to buy it off of him.


Wat do you guys think I should do? I would really like to have the 2871 and sell my 2560....

 

Hold out, if some choad pays a grand for it then it's what the market will bear. If not, he may reconsider.

 

he said he can sell the KIT for a grand, not the turbo. what are the other components and what are they worth? then make a judgement. that being said, i wouldn't **** and moan about $50-100 as you'll recoup the outlay on the sale of your 2560.

 

Iedally, i was thinking $450-500 for it... so that's why i made my counter offer to his $550. If i was trying to be a dick I would have said something like $250.

The kit is for an Audi A4 1.8T..... and when he means kt... he means the turbo as he isn't so bright at times.

 

Are you sure of that? Maybe he does want to sell more of the stuff...I say find out asap, this could be a good opportunity for you to make some bank.
I don't know what these parts go for in the Audi community, but I am sure if he incluldes an IC, mani, injectors, piping, DP etc. for $1000 it is a steal. Now if he will do that for the $550, then you need to jump on this yesterday.
If you have his phone number, call him, it's much easier to close him while talking to him vs. over the net. Plus you can get instant answers vs. giving him time to decide.
