Default Solder smoke!

I've been getting headaches and heartburn lately. I never get heartburn but I just noticed that its after I solder something. I got curious and googled something like solder smoke inhalation. I found that the smoke can cause this. Are any of you familiar with this? What do you do to stop it? Like a mask or a fan? Thanks.

Damn this sucks!

I might just wear a mask and work in a more open space.

I'm still breathing; probably have my iron on everyday...If you're really concerned, use lead free solder that melts/flows worth ****.

I would say just try the best you can to be in a well ventilated area with good air circulation. Other than that there is not much you can do.

You need ventilation when you solder. If you use a fan, don't have it blowing on your solder or you'll get cold joints.

Hm.

I've been soldering for about the past 20 years. Never really bothered with any special precautions. Truth be told, I kinda like the smell of 60/40 rosin-core solder.

LOL same here. I doubt it's the lead that has any effect, maybe the flux. The lead doesn't show up in the vapor. Heck, it doesn't even get absorbed through the skin when you hold it.

Me likes the smell too. I usually wear a big face shield and have a fan blowing w/ a door open in my garage.

Maybe you should Google, how to solder?
