Came home last night and did my usual circling the blocks for 15 minutes looking for a parking space. Finally, someone is pulling out of a spot right at the corner I'm turning on to. He pulls out and I pull in. As I'm parking some guy backs up from half way down the block and tries to back in to the spot I'm already all the way in. I honk and he gets out of his car. Crap.

He comes over to my door and yells, "I've been waiting for a space for 20 minutes you ******* *******!" I respond, "OK?" He counters with "You fucknig *******!"

At this point I'm thinking #1 this guy is on the edge of sanity, and #2 I don't need to go to jail tonight for kicking his ***. So I said, " If you want the spot, you can have it, it's really not a big deal." He stops, dumbfounded that I didn't get back in his face after he cursed me out and just stares at me for a second. He responds, "You have to be so ******* polite about it?" He comes over, shakes me hand and tells me, "you take the spot, it's okay."

I've always found that when you have someone get really confrontational and aggressive with you, if you are very polite and calm it shuts them down. They don't expect it and they often feel embarrassed. And I got a good spot and didn't have to fight anyone.

I appluad you! I would like to say i'd do the same in your situation but I would probably have just gotten angry after he called me an ******* the second time.

 

I have the same attitude about this.

Kill them with kindness. You most likely leave the victor, whereas you could get in a fight and get your *** whooped...you never know really who has the upper hand in that situation.
