Default Sooo... I just bought a 1.8L motor

I bought another motor. I had to. You guys probably saw the ad for the 96 block with the stripped 99 head. It was cheap enough. Now, the question is what do I do with it?

I also have a small block Ford AJ35 3.9L V8 that I picked up from craigslist for cheap (280hp/286ftlbs) that was going to be my next miata project, but I'm not really thrilled about the labor involved in the v8 swap.

Hard decisions....

You know, it's a good thing you saw that before I did, or I might have been tempted. Thanks for taking the bullet! That was a steal.

I think I'm going to slowly build it and have it as a back up for when the inevitable eventually happens.

word. just call FM and offer them money for the pistons. I'm sure you could lowball them if you can't wait for the DOD.

aaaaand make sure you speak with WOT before you buy that mani from andy!

got the motor today.
seller told me "naked" head but when I went to pick it up, it was all assembled. he told me was was planning on stripping it, but didn't get around to it. It has a little damage on one of the cam bearings, no biggie at all, but the cam had some pitting on it. So a couple of cams, and a case of beer for the guys at the machine shop, and it's good to go. 80k mile 96 block with a 99 head on top.
If I had a turbo manifold for it, I probably would just install it as is. I'll be looking for a used mani and I'm thinking a t3s60.

I could probably be talked out of my Begi NB T3 manifold (new style) for the right offer... there are other things I need to put the money towards and my lazy *** will probably never get it on the car anyways.

Hmmm...
Am I going to need a 99-00 intake mani? Or will the later NB or a NA 1.8 intake mani fit?

Also, should I just use the 1.8 throttle body? Any reason why I can't/shouldn't?

You need the 99 intake plenum. The mspnp is wired up for a 1.6 tbody, so you can't switch over, you must use a 1.6 tps.

the mspnp does nothing with the 1.6 tps.
is there something else that prevents me from going to the 1.8 t'body?
