Default Space-X rocket launch video

If you do not know about Space-X they are a company developing a new expendable launch vehicle (ELV) or 'rocket' for lifting smaller payloads into low Earth orbit (LEO). It will put something of roughly 250 kg mass into a 500+ km orbit.

They just had their first successful launch recently. There was a camera on-board and the resulting video is pretty sweet. I like the background music they added as well. Crystal Method FTW!
Space Exploration Technologies Corporation - Video Gallery

The HD video is worth the download if you have broadband.

Why? Why not! Billionaires like Elon Musk have hobbies too...

Seriously though it could end up being a less expensive way to get satellites into orbit, be it commercial, military, or NASA. It is possible that something I am working on now could end up riding on this in a few years.

...and Miata-related too. Mazda's ad agency used that same music for the intro commercial for the 1999 NB Miata. They had a silver 99 materializing and landing as if from space in the desert. If anybody knows of any source for that video, say so. I think Mazda and the ad agency pulled it from everywhere.

Awesome video! Wasn't this their 3rd or 4th try? It's good to see the private sector doing this kind of stuff..means the cost will get lower and lower.

LOL I remember that ad, pretty cool, especially since I have a '99. No dice on youtube I guess? Crystal Method songs are used all over the place in ads and what not as background music.

Yep, fourth attempt IIRC. That may seem like a lot of fail before #4, but considering the difficulty of this stuff that is pretty good. Even Von Braun and his team had problems initially.
