I'm actually driving to Dallas with my dad tomorrow to go see them. I got to see part of their set a couple of years ago in Nashville when I went to see Mastodon.

Ex-wife worked out being there that week for work, bought me a flight, I bought VIP tickets so we could meet the band before the show.

She proceeds to get so drunk we get kicked out after Kverletack and just a few songs into Gojira.

Holy amazing show.

I've seen all the greats, Metallica, Rush, Dio, Motorhead, AIC with Layne Staley........................Gojira may have been the best concert I've ever been to. Those guys are simply in another world when it comes to live performances.

A band called Skálmöld in collaboration with the Icelandic symphony.

The song is told from the view of a farmer in viking times. He goes out in the morning to fish and as he's out in the fjord he sees a black army close in on his farm. They slaughter his family, rape the women, burn his houses and kill his livestock all while he frantically tries to row towards land. He then describes the slaughter as he reaches shore and the rage building inside him as he charges himself up to take them all on himself.

And this one I love simply because you can see how the band just gets charged up by the crowds enthusiasm

Sons of Texas

Local band that I recently discovered. Kinda nu-rock/metal, not bad.

Gojira is awesome. We just saw them in Philly at a show that included Opeth, Mastadon, Russian Circles and Devin Townsend Project.

I've been really getting into noise rock stuff lately. Check out ******:

I've seen ****** a few times in Atlanta before they toured with Mastadon - glad to see they're making a name for themselves. Wish they still had Travis on drums, he was a trip to watch. He still does all his drum tricks in Weedeater.

Mastodon put on a hell of a show in Dallas weekend before last.

Again, my dad and I drove down to see the show and drove back the same night.

Girlfriend even woke up at 3am to greet me at the door with a drink in hand.

Rerelease of an album from 2000 - it's Swedish dirty muddy stoner rock, and while the remix has some additional clarity - it's still muddy in the right places. Kyuss like. My taste tends towards everything that's in that youtube channel - with a name like Stoned Meadow of Doom, it's pretty descriptive.

And speaking of Iceland, Solstafir just dropped a new album. I haven't listened to it yet so I've linked the one I like.

Can we change the title to this thread already to normal characters? Tired of having to go pages back to find it again to post new content.

Recently discovered, the local HD station in my area also plays online. Zero Commercials!

NO CONTROL Radio - Web Player link.

There are other links on their page, No Control Radio | KLBJ 93.7 FM - Austin's Rock - One goes to an app you can use for your phone. I prefer the http link above since my browser is always open during work.

Check these out if you haven't. Good stuff, although a little dated now. All very different from each other.

And ABSOLUTELY give this a listen. Singer died after the first album.

Will have to crank these up later on the big stereo in the living room.

Unfortunately my damn Roku 4 and new Onkyo receiver haven't been playing well together.
