I hope this isn't old news. Anyway, thought it was damn funny. If I had a mil to blow on a car, I'd so be that guy! I think he actually had it wound out in 6th.

Spinning is not cool! :gay:

I'd like to spend some time in that car at an airport, too.

When my Dad's bud, Larry Blair, rented a small airstrip in NY and took his McLaren F1 out, he'd hired a team to test G's, 1/4, top speed, etc.

Fast forward 2-3 years, he rolls up to Walkin Glen with a new Carrera GT. Before Jay Leno or Senfield can get one. Had two Porsche drivers ask for a ride-along and happily said no.

Silly thing is, my dad got HIM into racing as a kid....and look who end's up with the big bucks and a racing team....sigh.

I want to know what that guy does for a living. It's BIG $$ to have the honor of abusing an F1 on a closed airstrip.

I bet the car itself cost a lot more than the airstrip rental

He could be the son of a producer that runs a car show. But air strips arent that much, the local autox run on air strips, but thats cause were in bumblefuck il. Now getting O'hare or Midway would impress me.

We run on a decomissioned airstrip. Cost I beleive is $500 for the day and you have to have event insurance.

yeah the driver annoyed me more than the woman. it seems like all rich bastards who have supercars also have the driving skills of a 16 year old. what a waste. you can do 'spins' in a mustang.

What are you talking about, aren't you supossed to take you hands off the wheel in a drift?

I found some pics of Larry Blair's Carrera that day at Walkens Glenn....

and here's his McLaren...

Quote from my uncle.....

Larry Blair = 2004 Porsche Carrera GT, McLaren F1
Mark Spaulding = 2000 Mustang GT, Ford F150
I now know I should've listen to him about opportunities in California in the 1970's...

Al, you've gotta be kidding me.
None of us know how to drive and I guarantee you anybody on this board who had the means would own one and do exactly what he was doing. I drive like a 16 year old... and a million dollar car wouldn't change that. As soon as I hit the lottery, y'all can come out and take a spin in that 1000hp Ford GT Twin Turbo I'm gonna order... then tell me you won't do a donut or two. ****!

You can't take those things to a track, because when you wreck it... AND YOU WILL, you're out a mil. On a nice straight airstrip, there's no danger and you can get buck wild, like he did. I applaud the guy.

WAY TO GO DUDE!!! DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!!

Sam, most people with the money to buy a car like that suck at driving....that's why there's a website full of wrecked exotics. It usually takes an instructor a full day to teach you how to drive your new supercar. But they throw that out the window and it's more like drive like a got a huge ***** attached to my forehead.

Wow, he had the means to rent an airstrip and drive like a douche bag....you can still easily ruin a car that way....It don't matter if it's a track or airstrip or backroad.

all this guy had to do was do a burnout in a straight line...http://www.buzzhumor.com/videos/1180..._Burnout_Crash... I guess he forgot about traction control.....then brakes and steering.

You ought to speak for yourself on that one. Several of us on here autox and do track days, and I'm sure any of us that have done more than a season of autox and took it seriously are much better drivers than him.
You can tell in the first 15 seconds he is not a very good driver. He's really jerky, he lets go of the wheel, understeers when he's meaning to oversteer, and is generally 'hamfisted'.

Oh, and braineack, no you shouldn't let go of the wheel to catch a slide. This will always cause you to overcorrect unless you know when to catch it. If you do it right, your head shouldnt flop around too much when you stop sliding and straighten out.

I hope I didn't come off as saying I'm some kind of Schumacher, but I'm pretty competitive at a local level.

You guys have got to have a sense of humor about these things. You can call him names and critique his driving... but we all really wish we were him. He's got the money and the toys and that wife in the back probably has more aftermarket parts in her chest than most of us do in our cars.

So, bag on him all you want... but if I had the means, I'd be right behind him in an Enzo and you could make fun of me too. The Enzo would be painted in neon purple metal-flake like a bass boat, because I always wanted to do something that would **** off an entire country in one move (Italians have no sense of humor about those things)... and my zillions of adoring Benjamins would keep my ego safely intact night after night.

You'd all be right there behind me... but of course your superior skillz would be evident and your Veyron would still have the front wheel drive system connected (only to spite me because I had the audacity to suggest it might be fun to pull the driveshaft). And you'd be extremely careful to keep the rear of the car behind the front so internet forums wouldn't call you names.

Brain, I just can't seem to get my posts under 3 paragraphs... I'm trying though.

Sam, my point is he annoys me because, yes, I would love to have a car like that, so when someone has one I would like to see them using it the way I would. Someone that can really appreciate what it can do. Like the guy braineack was talking about.
