Tokico fail

6 of 8 hours on the road was completed on this blown shock:

highway 69 in OK is bumpy as hell and I guess a couple hours of rhythm kill't it.

fooger03 08-17-2010 08:49 AM

You're should have got the red tokicos; the white ones are for riding lawnmowers.

hustler 08-17-2010 08:53 AM

I guess I'm putting Bilsteins back in with stock springs.

ThatGuy85 08-17-2010 09:13 AM

Note to self: Do not use white tokico's...

Braineack 08-17-2010 09:16 AM

I don't even see how you can snap the shaft like that... it's traveling up and down.

18psi 08-17-2010 09:20 AM

he used the shaft for other purposes

levnubhin 08-17-2010 09:22 AM

Something had to have been left loose.

I've been on the same shocks for 2+ years now.....

his anus was loose

Braineack 08-17-2010 09:31 AM

i could see this happening if the top bolt wasn't secured, and then the shaft popped under the mount and got stuck at a weird angle and eventually snapped

swingdancr 08-17-2010 10:11 AM

If you were the original purchaser, and you have your invoice where you bought them, you can return them to Tokico for some $$$.

Check out the last page for their lifetime warranty details.

MartinezA92 08-17-2010 12:13 PM

I'm going with the top being loose. On that note, I hated the Tokicos.

mgeoffriau 08-17-2010 12:19 PM

Dogpiling, but yeah, how would any lateral force be applied to the shaft unless one end or the other was shifting under load? How massive of a metallurgical defect would there have to be for it to shear in two under vertical force?

Everything is still tight, not sure what happened. Please pm me if you have stock springs to sell me since that rear is bent severely. Thanks.

webby459 08-17-2010 12:46 PM

^I don't have new springs for you. But...

I thank my lucky little stars that your manly physique was not harmed in any way when you had your trouble.

I thought you had Tein FLEX shocks.

I'm assuming this is his daily driver. Either way - I loved my Illuminas and never had problem with them. Used them on multiple different cars over the years without a single problem. I bet that you fucked something up as usual.

jeff_man 08-17-2010 02:19 PM

mhm i'd just keep driving it

You are right. I didn't notice the color of the wheel well. I fail!
