Turn 40 today, going to have a drink.

Perhaps two.

rleete 04-12-2011 07:07 PM

Pffft. Let me know when you hit 50 and your knees are gone.

xturner 04-12-2011 07:12 PM

Happy Birthday. The downhill part gets steeper now, better have a third one to cushion the landing.

lordrigamus 04-12-2011 07:16 PM

Welcome to the club. I turned 40 in January. Stock up on Geritol and Depends right now!

rmcelwee 04-12-2011 08:00 PM

I hit 44 two months ago. I can't see shit! Get ready for your eyes to go to hell...

flier129 04-12-2011 08:14 PM

I turned 22 last week ;)

40 is the new 30!

FRT_Fun 04-12-2011 08:17 PM

Turn 25 on the 28th woooooooooooooooooooo still going up hill baby!

JasonC SBB 04-12-2011 08:18 PM

Getting older sucks.

Stein 04-12-2011 08:40 PM

Looks like the OG roll call in here. I turned 44 in March. Happy B day old fucker.

miata2fast 04-12-2011 08:43 PM

You old bastards.

Getting pretty frosty, but I have a few hours to go.

y8s 04-12-2011 08:49 PM

you guys sure are crotchety.

when I turn 40, I fully expect to be carded for my two drinks.

miatauser884 04-12-2011 08:53 PM

I agree that 40 is looking younger and younger. I turn 31 in June.

lordrigamus 04-12-2011 08:54 PM

I love it when you say something with the word crotch in it, Y8s.

jbresee 04-12-2011 09:54 PM

50 here.
The scary thing about aging is that the number of chicks that look hot to you just increases with time. As a lad, I would have puked at the thought of a 40 year old... now? I'd hit that.. and that... and that...

Assuming I found myself single, that is.

JasonC SBB 04-12-2011 11:03 PM

Nah what's worse is when a buddy's daughter starts to look hot...

miata2fast 04-13-2011 06:25 AM

Well, the good thing about 40 is I had enough sense to quit drinking at a reasonable time.

In the old days, I would have stayed at it for a few more, and felt like ass the next morning.

People always think I'm 7-8 years younger than I am (28). Dunno about 19 off though. :giggle:

I think I should start my mid-life crisis. First step: procure red sports car.

See, I have good alcoholic genes on my dads side so I just drink too much, go to bed at 2 am, and get up for work at 4:30. Only occasionally though.

Turned 43 on March 31st.

"Get off my lawn you young whippersnappers!"

Machismo 04-13-2011 09:25 AM

41 here. We aren't OLD - we are just Vintage.

Oscar 04-13-2011 10:35 AM

Congrats gramps

miata2fast 04-12-2014 06:58 PM

It is time to have a drink.

rmcelwee 04-12-2014 08:08 PM

Only drinking on your even numbered birthdays must really suck!

I'll drink one (coffee mug full of Southern Comfort on the rocks) for you though...

paNX2K&SE-R 04-12-2014 08:14 PM

I turned 40 in September and was just thinking that same thing the other day haha.

thirdgen 04-12-2014 08:16 PM

I'll drink a few for ya. That's what I do...all the time.

DNMakinson 04-12-2014 10:31 PM

59 here. Coming home from the shop I was thinking, "why am I souping up a sports car? In 10 years I'll be 70". BECAUSE I WANT THE EXPERIENCE. And it's been fun.

Shit, I thought I was gonna set the bar at 57. Guess not.
I still try to act my shoe size......

Cheers & Happy Birthday!!

miata2fast 04-12-2014 11:07 PM

Got back from having a drink.

One of the few things really good about being of age is the fact that I have hurt enough from drinking over the years that I will not likely hurt too bad tomorrow from drinking.

I was a slow learner though. Good times!

sixshooter 04-12-2014 11:29 PM

Happy birthday, buddy!

GeneSplicer 04-13-2014 08:38 AM

For my 40th, I got a prostate exam (yay). On the up side, he said a had a prostate of a 17yr old. As if that's supposed to make me feel better!
It also confirmed I'm not gay... just relax, yeah right!
Happy birthday man, kill a couple for me.

y8s 04-13-2014 09:31 AM

this is what happens when suspect noobs post in the threads of the elderly.

sixshooter 04-13-2014 03:55 PM

It's getting hard to find whiskey older than my kid. And expensive.

miata2fast 04-13-2014 05:24 PM

Old whiskey, new whiskey, the hangover is the same. I have been on the vodka in controlled doses.

I was having a good day and I was reminiscing. Besides, I was thirsty.

Did I miss something?

miata2fast 04-12-2017 05:54 PM

Its time to have a drink, AND get myself about $1500.00 or so in Miata parts. Then I will have another drink.

I mean Saturday would have been a much better day to buy an MKTurbo setup, as I was in town and had them on hand. Now I have to ship the damn thing to you.

miata2fast 04-12-2017 06:18 PM

That is funny, because I came mighty close to buying a 99 that would have been the perfect candidate for one of your setups. I decided to pass, and use all the money towards my project.

Well, this is interesting... Three years later (well, 3 years minus 8 minutes) and I am doing the exact same thing I was before.

Yes, this is my first post here in 10 months. I sold my last Miata (the Lava MSM) and the Beer Cooler a few weeks ago. Still messing with arcade machines. I am staying around 35 total right now. Buying and selling as room permits...

Chiburbian 04-12-2017 08:50 PM

I turned 40 in March, and I MUST have been drinking, because I got engaged a week ago.

All joking aside, I am as happy as I have been in as long as I can remember. I am down about 10 lbs (20 or more to go), my blood pressure is under control, and I got a substantial raise at the beginning of the year. Life is good.

I remember you! Don't ever get out of the game completely.

Nice! I think you are going to love it. I got married a year ago, and we have a daughter now. Why the hell didn't I do this years ago?

Chiburbian 04-12-2017 09:10 PM

In my case, I met my fiancé 20 years ago this year. I fell for her.

But she was married to another guy.

I didn't want to be the guy trying to break up a relationship so I became friends of the family, but mostly her. I knew I might do or say something stupid so I only called her on her birthday for 12 years (after I got out of the Marine Corps). We would talk on the phone for an hour or two, and then say goodbye until the next year. By the end of each phone call I was crushing on her again. Every year.

Three years ago she separated from her husband... Divorce was final a little over a year ago. I felt terribly guilty but I knew how I had always felt and I went for it. Getting older will do that... I don't have time to screw around. I want to experience this life for whatever time I have.

miata2fast 04-12-2017 09:40 PM

Thats a pretty cool story. I think I will have a drink for you!

sixshooter 04-13-2017 02:01 PM

I missed your birthday! Sorry!

miata2fast 04-13-2017 02:06 PM

Just buy me a drink later and we will forget that shit ever happened.

sixshooter 04-13-2017 02:15 PM

I probably would have known if I used facebook or something. My FB account has a false BD, if it ever comes up.

m2cupcar 04-13-2017 02:47 PM

Happy bday 2fast- :friday:

I'd buy you a drink but I'm in Boca Grande fishing.

samnavy 04-12-2018 05:40 PM

I turn 42 in July, and last week had my first "old man" injury... literally reaching down into the fridge to put the cheese back, I pulled a muscle in my lower back. WTF just happened? The wife is a nurse and blamed it on me using my back too much to do situps at crossfit the day before... huge abs day. I'm 6'4" and 240lbs... maybe time to loose the extra 30 I've been carrying around since 2000'ish.
