My first time.
Well, it finally happened, somebody "tried" to race me. I've been revved on by the odd Cavalier and played with a few worthy guys on the freeway, but never an actual stoplight dragrace since the new turbo.
I pulled up next to a puke orange Charger Daytona... new one, big spoiler, stupid stripes. Nice rumble, at least a cat-back. It's about 11pm, so it's pretty obvious when the "traction control off" light blinks on his dashboard. He never looks at me, but a split second before the light turns green, he foot brakes it and brings the rev's up. OK, quick scan for the fuzz... green light!
I pull a fender on him in first, but his automatic probably does around 40 before it shifts... so he pulls even as I hit second... then it's no contest. He quits at about 80 and I've got almost 2 lengths on him. I take it to 90 and let off. We go for another 2 miles on that road but he won't even pull alongside for a thumbs up.
It's boosting up to 11psi and dropping to about 9psi right now in 4th and 5th. I can't wait for the 12th to see what it's making.
EDIT: CRAP, WRONG FORUM!!! Mods, do your worst!

Sam...your my hero.
I'll be coming to Newport News a few times this summer. I bought my miata from my uncle that I'll be staying with, so if your still in VA Beach I know we'd (at least I) would like to see you/your car. I should have my turbo on and maybe ever a paintjob by the end of summer

I told my wife about it... she wasn't so hot. At least the Don-erator has my back (figuratively)!
I guess guys just don't assume a Miata will be worth their time... even with the rollbar, wheels, IC, nobody gives me a second glance. I guess I kind of like it that way, cops probably only look once too.
This is what was next to me... then behind me:

I think that's one of this cars' best features; it just looks harmless. Many months ago I turned a corner tires a blazin in 2nd, went sideways, got straight after a little fishtail, went to 3rd at WOT.... and apparantely all right infront of a cop who was leaving Burger King. I was expecting wreckless driving and laying drags citations, maybe speeding too if his gun was on. It was a 30 or 35 zone, don't recall, and I was winding out 3rd. Cop pulled out behind me, didn't turn his lights on, didn't even try to come up to speed to see my tag or anything. I got back on the gas, put some distance between my car and his, and made a couple quick turns--just in case he changed his mind.
