Default What to do with blown Subie?

I have a blown up Subie Forester XT. It has a downpipe and exhaust and a wideband. The motor is toast.

The question is:

Should I spend $6000 and build the motor for 350awhp?

Or say **** you Forester, sell it for $6000, and do something else with my money.

Here's the build list:

$1000 turbo
$4000 motor
$500 injectors
$500 ????

I already have my broken miata, a working stockish miata, and a lexus IS-F. All cars are fully paid for.

If I sell the forester I will probably get some other fast/fun AWD/4wd vehicle I can carry stuff around in. No clue what that would be.

uhg thats the cheapest you can find a motor? What about just a bottom end.

My GF has a 95k mile 07 Legacy GT. I hope I never have to replace the motor now!

Subie motors are expensive. Did your tune just suck and you blew it up? How much WHP were you pushing? How many miles on it? Stock block should safely do 300whp with no issues. Out of all my buddies with subarus, none have blown up with proper tunes even with tons of abuse and over 100k miles.

We're replacing my brother's toasted exhaust valve on his LGT at the moment, same valve & cylinder that mine went a year or so ago. Full suck sodium valves.

And there are places around that have cheaper long blocks than what you posted.

What was failure mode?

You guys are making me worried about my FXT.

And Fae, didn't you make fun of 18psi and his subaru tuning? I hope it wasn't a tune issue.

The motor died because it was burning oil. Like 1Q a gas tank. I knew this when I bought it. But. Of course. I forgot to check the damn oil. I installed some spiffy new coilvers and was doing 4 wheel drifts. All was awesome. Then on one hard turn I started to hear TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP.

The end.

Turbo then blew. I drained the oil and it was all golden and coppery.

I was very sad.

So I never really wanted to do a big build with this car.

You really think I should just get a new bottom end?

I think anything less then 800hp in it is a waste. that should be your goal.

There was no problem with the tune. It was very happy. 11-10.5 AFR. Timing was nothing outrageous and there was no knock.

That is not an acceptable answer to my post. The only acceptable answer is challenge accepted.

I really just want to see how fast you can go bankrupt modding cars.

I'll trade you my miata for your blown forester. Then you can have 3 miatas.
