Factory shortblock should retail for ~$1800-1900 from your local subaru dealer. (1725 rimjobbbbber)
Your aftermarket engine rebuilders should be less than that but we didn't find anyone with any in-stock (~3 weeks turnaround), but my bro didn't end up needing a shortblock. EDIT AGAIN: but if you fucked up your cam towers/caps or got bad stuff inside your VVT gizmo, you may need more than a shortblock. |
1. Spend $6k on Cosworth built engine
2. Install 3. Never worry about reliability of engine again. 4. ???? 5. Profit |

1. Think of how much driving enjoyment you have received from your teal Miata.
2. Think of how much driving enjoyment you have received from your IS-F. 3. Note the level of modifications between the two. 4. Set up the Forester accordingly. |

VVT solenoids aren't too expensive. I had to replace one on my GF's car. She still has both of the filters in the banjo bolts. In the spring I want to replace the one feeding her turbo and check shaft play on the stock turbo. Cam caps on the other hand... no bueno. If you just do a shortblock BE SURE to replace both of the banjo bolts that have filters in them. |
