Congrats man. That's about the only thing worth selling a nice miata like yours for.

Congrats, guess the Miata isn't the best for a car seat.

My wife and I expecting our first, due date is Feb 1. Thankfully we are expecting a boy as well.

Having a happy family > being a lone homo with cats that can't tune an n/a miata.

One of the few newborns that's not ugly. Congrats on a good looking, healthy kid.

If he's going around having sex with women...... he shouldn't have had one in the first place.

thanks. my sister still says I can't be objective about my own child, but I think he's super cute.

Many congrats Matt! Nice looking kid.

Meg keeps reminding me to pack my bag for the hospital, but I have 2 weeks left, so 'they' say. So what would you recommend bringing to the hospital?

Keep the miata.

I dont use the miata and hate leaving the money tied up in it. some day maybe I'll get another.

I had bags packed for a long time because we didn't go to the hospital until 41 weeks, 4 days.

Here is how you pack:
you:
typical weekend trip size bag and stuff. a backpack is plenty.

her:
let her pack what she wants, then remove all the clothes except a robe and outfit to go home in. like 6 month maternity yoga pants and a button up shirt that fits GIANT *****. seriously, bigger than they are now.
maternity bra
nursing pads
hard candy to suck on
flushable toilet wipes
throat lozenges (screaming)
lip balm
hair bands (and extras)

misc:
ipod and speakers,
heating pad,
phone chargers,
gatorade,
fizzy sugary drinks,
bite size finger food mostly for you (they may not let her eat but you can sneak stuff),
miso soup mix is good--just get a large cup of hot water from the coffee vendor.
refillable sports water bottles,
map of walkable takeout places,
tennis ***** in a sock for masage,
unscented / baby lotion for your hands (washing will dry them out)
a folder for your wife's hospital paperwork
a folder for your baby's hospital paper work
pen and paper
a baby care book like the American Academy of Pediatrics "Caring for your baby and young child" so you're not totally lost once you're holding him/her.
a travel outfit for baby that is easy to put on
a blanket and hat for baby

very important:
car seat properly installed and inspected
your wife's ID and insurance forms
your ID

You really don't need "entertainment" stuff since you'll be doing stuff the whole time.

If you REALLY want to be a boss, get "The Birth Partner" by Penny Simkin and read that ASAP.

We were really prepared and even though **** was hard and long (do NOT leg Meg "Push" before she feels the urge to push) we ended up with a healthy little baby and no caesarean for Jenn. Surgery sucks!

If you have ANY plans to sleep in the hospital, the number one complaint I get is the pillows. They're plastic (vinyl?) so we can easily clean them, but that means they don't breath, and your head over heats in seconds. So bring your own.

Temporary threadjack:

when my wife went into labor, it was late, we were watching Boondock Saints 2, and it was starting to snow. What did we do? We only had my miata running at the time, so we hopped in that turbo biznatch and flew to the hospital. I never thought i'd spend so much time in the hospital, my wife barely remembers any of it before giving birth. I remember every hour.

We dont have vinyl pillows at our hospital, we got the ones similar to airline pillows... no cushion at all. Felt like someone stuffed cotton ***** in a paper cloth sack and called it a pillow. I had an easier time in BMT than I did at that hospital for that reason. The cafeteria knew me too well by the end of it. Wife handled it like a bauce, and little girl came into the world like a true champ.

my one most memorable moment was our nurse, she was hot. Her name was Britain, and she helped me to physically massage my wife's breasties before trying to breast feed. It was the most awkward, hottest semi-public situation I have ever been in. Wife remembers me drooling over that event. She showed me how to massage wifey boobies, then took my hands with hers on the boobies, and proceeded to "show" me how its done.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD:
If you bring your own pillows or towels or linens, bring the ugliest, brightest, non-white ones you have. Or else you will not get them back.
