Ah, now you are getting it (I knew you would come around). Why buy an NC when a '94 Miata will do just fine? Throw a turbo on the bitch and have a car at 1/4th the price that out performs something new.

Here's the 84 Buick for me (I guess you wouldn't be interested):

Well of course comparing the Xbox1 to a GN isn't a fair comparison. I meant this Buick

It does all that, you still don't like it and you would rather buy two other consoles.

Of course you can use a PS2 controller. What do you think it is, something proprietary like a shit ass PS3?

I'd rather not have a frankenstein console though. ANYWAY, this thread is going a bit off topic. Your argument sucks and is invalid, and this thread is between PS3 and 360.

It is clear you have no idea what you are talking about. The XBox1 is heads above all other consoles (like a loaded GN is heads above all other cars). I see I can't convince you so I will quit trying now...

GO AWAY! OK, I'll play again. So how is it heads above all other consoles? Outside of game selection?

I think he's got a pretty good point (I'm sold).

Your comparing personal preference (I'd rather not have a Frankenstien console) whereas he's comparing actual use-ability.

I have already said, great, it plays old games, I enjoy a lot of older classics. But I doubt this thread was made so the OP could learn more about the outdated Xbox to go along with his newly finished home theater. Again, someone tell me outside of game selection/already having a massive library of games, what does it have that puts it heads above current consoles?

I too have a newly finished (2.5 months old) home theater. I have a collection of 300 movies in AVI, MOV, MP4, etc formats on my server. They play just fine through my XBox1. I can also play all of my MP3s over the network through the XBox1. I can watch YouTube videos on the TV over my XBox1. I can store all my favorite DVDs on the HD on the XBox1 (no need to keep a stack of discs around). I watched the Cowboys vs Seahawks game this weekend on the TV through the XBox1 (it wasn't broadcast in my area). I can watch your mother's German Scheisse movies on the XBox1. Didn't I already go through this??? Have I proved my point? Can I go now?

Loki047 11-03-2009 08:51 AM

No one wants and XBOX1, yes you made a sweet medie extender that plays games from 1997, but no one wants it.

Back on point, does the ps3 upconverts regular DVDs, does the 360?

You could have gone 6 posts ago actually, but I'm glad you are finally finished. :loser:

I don't think either does upconversion, though PS3 might. Google is giving me mixed answers. I don't recall any converting from when I used to have a PS3 though. I wouldn't even consider the 360 with movies in mind. Get that fancy external HD DVD drive... I want a laserdisk on my 360.

It's not a hardware issue; it's politics. They both can scale content to 1080p. The problem is that the powers that be are all retarded, and won't allow DVD to be scaled to 1080p over an analog connection. If you use a digital connection (HDMi) then you can scale up to 1080p.

We're all using fixed pixel displays, typically at 1920x1080. So at some point a 720x480 signal must be converted to fit the display. WGaF (that's who gives a fuck) if it's converted at the source device, or at the display.

Anyway...

magnamx-5 11-03-2009 09:26 AM

um yeah to me the ps3 is just a winner something about the xbox just never felt right for me ever. So with sony i shall stay.

NA6C-Guy 11-03-2009 09:29 AM

What is the deal with PS2 games looking like shit on the PS3? Results of scaling? I was expecting PSX -> PS2 results, with the smoothing stuff, but I was amazed that my PS2 games look like shit in high def on the PS3. Which is why I want to get a PS2 to play PS2 games.

miatauser884 11-03-2009 09:35 AM

I have a ps3 and friends have xbox 360. The xbox 360 seems to have a wider variety of games. PS3 seems to make all games as realistic as possible (not always the most fun). Sometimes the arcade style feel is more appealing. The big game negative I have about the ps3 is most games are only one player unless playing online. Xbox seems to make a lot of two player offline games. PS3 this month will be able to stream netflix. I believe the ps3 is better at controlling sound. I know bluray isn't a concern, but I did just hear that xbox will be coming out with a bluray player (only confirmation is colleague at work, so no real proof).

Game Play: Xbox
Media Center: PS3, due to blue ray, sound control, and now movie streaming. PS3 capabilities are easy to upgrade because everything is software based. New firmware means new capabilities

Ben 11-03-2009 09:41 AM

360 streams Netflix.

PS3 handles advanced audio codecs because it has an advanced player. I suspect when/if 360 gets a BR player, it will also handle advanced audio codecs.

Loki047 11-03-2009 10:09 AM

PS3 will get netflix

jayc72 11-03-2009 10:45 AM

I don't want an original xbox. I had one and just recently gave it away for a case of beer (long since consumed). It was chipped and had an upgraded (80gig) HD too. I doubt that the original xbox has the capability to project nicely onto a 100" screen when the viewing distance is about 10ft. I need HD, because I'm a whore for pretty.

But thanks for playing.
