I haven't been paying attention lately, but has the Oregon shooting had any effect on pricing of firearms/ammo?

Not really. 22LR went up like 2 cents a round for a couple days but that might have just been sales cycling out.

Interesting. I expected the usual "they're coming to take our guns!" response. The National Association of Gun Rights (NAGR) keeps sending me emails claiming the gun grab is already happening. I had to unsubscribe from them due to the ridiculous click-bait headlines. That, and just paying the membership fee was never enough money.

It's good to know though. I've still got my heart set on a Noveske, and eventually a suppressor. I will admit I don't rate that kind of weapon. Hell, I don't even rate a Nerf gun. Stupid Air Force and it's M9 for officers only training.

No affect. You will know that things are happening when you can't find an Anderson lower for $40... which might happen if all the polls start to favor Hillary to win the Presidency. I've got a big hunting trip in 3 weeks, and if I have any money leftover from that, I'm gonna buy a couple PSA lowers when they go on Thanksgiving sale... cause ya never know!

Bought 2 Anderson lowers during the Primary Arms pre-Halloween sale... $34ea with $7 total shipping. I paid $77 shipped for 2x stripped lowers. It'll be another $30 to transfer them, but that's as cheap as I was waiting for.

Black Friday should reveal enough deals that I can complete the lowers... already have most of the little parts, including triggers, takedown pins, and stocks. I need a couple bolt-catches and buffer kits, but since these are going to be made into complete beater guns, it's gonna be the cheapest shiz I can find. I'm talking "Ptac cheap" and everything made in China. They'll get function tested and then be safe queens. I think I'll have about $350 into each of them, and then will sell them for $1k ea when Hillary gets elected. In the meantime, I'm waiting for another sale because I think I want about 10 more lowers.

Also... big hunting trip next week. You ******* will get all the pics of my destruction. The ranch I hunt on just got hi-fenced... first year and there is a ton of deer that need to go. Gonna shoot 6.8spc and .308... here's some goodness.

These are all .308... 110gr FMJ's, 165gr Sierra Gamekings, and 165gr Nosler Accubonds.

I only managed to function test the $400 AR. I was going to sight in the red dot and the irons but I'm way too lazy to walk 50 yards between shots with no spotting scope, I got it close from the distance of "as far away from the target as I could see the hits with the naked eye" and then proceeded to shoot like a 20MOA grouping through 4 mags just to make sure it worked. Trigger is real nice, especially for a milspec. But also, **** thumb screws on rail mounts, I replaced all that **** with nylocks after the shake down day. Between the constant loosening of the sights, the cold (improper clothing shivering), and not sighting in like at all I'm ok with only getting most of the shots on paper.

Oh, cheaper than dirt has some steel 40 round ar mags with good reviews on sale for 10 bucks, its tempting.

I found the upper for your lowers btw. Its got the good 1:8 twist, midlength gas system and stainless barrel for like $5 more than a melonited barrel 1:7 or 1:9 anderson parts upper with no FA or dust cover and carbine length gas. PSA 16" Mid-length 5.56 NATO 1:8 Stainless Steel Freedom Upper - with BCG and Charging Handle

Why bother with CTD steel mags? Too easy to get good deals on Pmags to bother with anything else (for me).

40 rounds vs 30. And the gen 3 pmags with anti tilt followers never go on sale. I'm not sure how much of a benefit the anti tilt follower is though. Probably won't grab any since I get gen 2 pmags for under 9 bucks.

Samnavy, thanks again for the heads up on the edc light. I received mine yesterday and it is great. Very bright for its size.

I did the same thing. Amazing little light. And so much cheaper than adapting my surefire 6P incandescent to led.

I'm not a .45 guy, so by association, I'm not a 1911 guy either. I keep telling myself that a real man would EDC an A1 Govt model, and my vag gets itchy. But every time I have the opportunity to buy a 1911, I can't come up with a good enough reason.

You can find a Rock Island standard 9mm for sale in the $380 shipped range a few times a year... If I ever see one down near $350, I might splurge, but prob not.

I leave Wed for annual Texas hunting trip... San Angelo if interested. Deer, turkey, and anything else that holds still long enough. I promise full details. The property owner hi-fenced during the spring, and it was a good summer, so everything is healthy and the fawn survival rate was pretty high... So we've got a lot of work to do.

I'm taking a 100 rounds of .308... Accubonds and Gamekings. 100rds of 6.8... 90gr Gold Dots and 110 ProHunters. Plus some .223 to **** around with and enough 9mm not to get bored. I'm also taking my Savage FVSR because it's awesome and I discovered that CCI Standard Velocity shoots dimes at 50yds.

'Mercia!

Those "shot shells" are nasty. My grandpa used to keep them in his .44 when they went hunting on horse back for when they came across rattle snakes.

I use a very firm wrist and usually 2-hand shots with those to remove any limp-wrist symptoms... otherwise they won't cycle my Glock.

I'm down to about 40hrs before leaving for my hunt trip... gonna be useless at work today and tomorrow.

I am waiting for the black friday deals on reloading equipment. I am looking at buying a Hornady LnL AP press setup.

those 9mm shot shells work in semi auto? Supposedly the 22 magnum ones dont feed so I havent even attempted them in my PMR30.

With the the shots hells, I've fired about 20 through my Glock and a third haven't cycled... I think the charge is enough, but the plastic case construction hinders extraction and feeding.

If I hadn't fallen into an incredible deal all my Dillon stuff, I probably would have bought the Hornady. There really is no way to underrate auto-indexing progressive. However, since Hornady just royally pissed off the entire reloading community with the bullshit release of their new ELD bullet, I am boycotting all their products for at least a year, and sent them an email letting them know.

Honady ELD? That was the new big thing they hyped? The way they made it sound was they figured out something HUGE like how to make a lead free bullet that worked as well in flesh as lead but also is cheapish.

For about 6 months they hyped this thing more than the new Star Wars... claimed it would revolutionize "shooting sports as we know it". There were no threads or stories citing a leak, so they really did keep wraps on it until the release date... and...

Basically what they said was that the rubber tip placed in a lot of hollowpoint hunting ammo melts and ruins the aerodynamics of bullets as they hit the 400'ish yard point. They offered no evidence of this other than to simply say "we used doppler radar to prove melting bullet tips"... I'm not shitting. Nevermind that motion camera technology is quite capable of filming bullets inflight and it would be a short day to ACTUALLY FILM MELTING BULLET TIPS... no, they said "doppler" and clicked their heels together 3 times.

So they "invented" new plastic tips that won't melt... and that's it. Srsly... that's it.

The trolling of Hornady has been extreme, and people are genuinely unimpressed with a company that until now enjoyed an exceptional public opinion and genuine wide-spread cult-like following. They hyped this thing like it was going to get the anti's off our backs, cut ammo prices in half, and double the accuracy of every firearm out there... when in reality, if there was any truth to their claims, is only useful to hunters who regularly shoot past 400yds... like maybe .05% of all gun owners.

So I'm taking a year off from anything Hornady.
