Update: Before sending that magazine back I figured why not see what we can do. Measured and recorded the outside body which is about .47mm too thick. Took it apart and examined the inside clearances and construction, then grabbed a 225 grit sticky backed piece of sandpaper and stuck it to my work bench. About 20 minutes of sanding with 225/1000 grit paper and some test fitting the magazine still functions flawlessly AND drops free from my rifles. All of them.
They still get a D- because I had to modify it, but now I'm happy with my purchase. Time to buy five or six more.

I found a sub 2000 in .40 last week at a local gun shop. They wanted $410 which seems a bit high but if it was 9mm I would have bought it then and there. Those things are ridiculously hard to find.
I shot (vs just looking at) a sub2000 .40cal this weekend. I don't know if the guy had stock sights on that thing or not but I officially DO NOT WANT (at least in OEM). They were so low that I really had to lay the side of my head down on the butt to see through them.
Oh, also picked up one of these (I could not resist it) for $190 with the original wood stock, some ammo, and 4 cheap banana mags. I thought it was really gay but I took it with me on my trip to the boonies of WV and it was really fun to shoot. It is about 6" shorter than a stock 10/22 and the weight dist felt better. The seller told me he put some metal bars in the front to level it out a bit. I did a bit of "I am in a FPS so I will hide around a corner then peek out and shoot a tree stump". Instant smiles @ $.40 per 10 rounds. Not sure if I am going to resell it just yet...

Yeah, $117 on Amazon. I was hoping to buy the rifle for the $190, sell the kit for $75, the mags for $25 and have $90 in a 10/22 for a project. As I said, it was pretty fun to shoot so maybe I'll hang on to it for a bit.
Yeah, I've shot a few and the sights were nothing like the sub2000. The guy who had it bought it used with 4 glock mags (not sure how many rounds) for an unbelievable $200. The PO must have put different sights on it or something. Put it like this, my ear protection was getting in the way. That is how contorted you had to get to aim the rifle. I guess that answers my question on if they were OEM. Still, a great price on that rifle. I was jelly....
Hey, I have that same bullpup stock. Mine is for my Marlin 9mm.
I found the trigger pull needs some work, so I took it out, and haven't bothered with fixing it. Some day...

The stock sights aren't bad in my opinion.. The front is a fiberoptic style and super easy to see in low light. Haven't really tried super long range yet but I've no doubt I'll have a problem hitting something at 100 yards+ with it.
You have a camp carbine? I'm jelly...
Yeah, doing a dry fire on it really had me doubting how nice it was going to be. It did not seem to be a problem once I started shooting it. I have something like a 3 pound trigger pull on my target 10/22 - really responsive. I'm not sure what the guts look like on the kit (I watched a video on the build a couple of years ago but can't really remember) but there is probably a way to tighten it up a bit.
Yup. Bought it many years ago, and hardly ever shoot it anymore. Got all sorts of mags for it. It's the wife's favorite, as the recoil is nil, so she can shoot without flinching. I also have a Marlin .22, and it's the same gun, just a little bit smaller. Friend had one in .45, and I declined when he offered it to me. Wish I'd bought it.
I have lots of guns, and I haven fired a shot in over a year. Didn't even hunt last fall. These days I'm down to blasting the airsoft MP40 at the squirels. Doesn't appear to hurt them, but it sure pisses them off!

Mine was so tight that it really took some effort to get it to fire. I believe the slide is binding up, but I haven't looked at it in ages. The spring was too strong as well.

The Korea Times is reporting that while it will allow 86,000 historical M1 Garand rifles to be imported from South Korea, the Obama administration continues to block the importation of some 600,000 M1 Carbines because “they come with a magazine that can carry multiple rounds.”

No, it's because the M1 Carbine has an EVIL Detachable box magazine which can hold 30+ rounds. Anyone else find it amusing that the government released a memo stating that the .30carbine round was ineffective? They'll let us have a high power .30/06 rifle with a 1200 meter kill range, but not a low power high capacity magazine.
------- idiots. That's democrats for you. Brainless.

They also call .30-30 ineffective but it seems to do just fine against
