2015 Miatas at the gap - July 24, 25, 26
#142
I am planning a trip up there this fall as well, as soon as it cools down a little. I havn't made it up there since I installed the turbo so I am real excited to see how different the car feels in the twisties. I am looking at being up there on a Thursay or Friday so that the cop activity will be lower than Saturday/Sunday.

Keep us posted and maybe the dates well line up for a MTATG weekend? Maybe I'll see less Astroglide with you folks - unless Lars comes on down

Just like the fenders, the bumpers can just be steel tubing that protrudes in front of the tires. Like a pre-runner style truck bumper essentially. And the ends have to round off, so no ripping anyones shins off if you clip them.
But, while i've been dreaming of a tube miata for years, it is hard to do here between unpredictable weather and inspections. It will happen eventually, but i'm realistically 2-3 years out.

No Astroglide in my glove box!
I got a ticket up there in 07, right after they got crazy with cops on the gap and pretty much refuse to drive the gap on a Saturday to Sunday since. Weekdays have much less traffic and no blue lights. My in-laws have a cabin about 40 min from the gap and I know of a lot of fun roads in the area that I have never seen a cop on.
A trip in early September is nice because the leaves don't fall yet which attract lots of stupid people and causes traction issues. If not, early April is a great time to get up there for spring driving. It is also a good time to do shakedown runs before summer/fall track days.

They (cops) were bad - we thought only 2 cops went in but a 3rd on a bike slipped past us. Kinda the reason we blew by him at 45/50 - we thought we were free.

Hey GeneSplicer. You're the one that came up to me in the gas station on the way out of town right?
I had lots of fun for a first time out. It was an interesting time hanging out with all of the V8roadster guys and the guy from K-Miata. I hope that "Snakelet" is treating you well.

*disclaimer* no swapping of astroglide in gloveboxes was had
