June is usually similar temperatures to Sep, so I'd add this one back too:

- Sat/Sun June 6 - 7 -- HoD again. I think it's 3 mile both days (probably one bypass, one cyclone). June will be warm, likely in the 90s.

Edit: I had put in something here about waiting for TMR to publish their calendar, but I just went and checked Thunderhill's calendar (https://www.thunderhill.com/monthly-view/) and it shows a couple singleton Friday events for them, and there are almost no "available" weekend slots in the premium months, so that's unlikely to change things.

I think either the June HoD or April NCRC are the best choice. I have a mild preference for the HoD one because they're not running backwards.

April is very unlikely going to happen for Katy or I. That's a couple of weeks before our first LD race so I'll likely be knee deep trying to get the car prepped and a couple of weeks after her final quarter finishes which won't give us time to finish the mustang.

Got it. Well, that won't do, so June is looking like the best bet.

I like October. Car would be sorted by then and probably good for weather. April would probably be too soon, shakedown phase of engine build. Don't want to tow from AZ just to deal with teething issues.

EDIT: Is that Shelby club going to mind a boat load of Miatas showing up to a Mustang thing though?

Most NorCal Shelby Club events are open to all marques (the sometimes-exception being "mini nats" at Sears Point in July), and there are usually at least half a dozen Miatas there anyway.

In that case that would be even cooler to have a huge group turnout and mob on some Mustangs.

I actually have one other friend here in AZ that has a Boss 302 full racecar that is in ST2 and pretty fast. He might be interested in coming with. And if @hi_im_sean is interested I can fit two Miatas in my trailer...

October works better here too, new house might make April tight.

It's just no passing in corners right?

Shelby Club advanced group is open passing (no point-by required) on straights, no passing in corners.

NCRC and HoD both have full open passing.

I want to be able to make a pass though a corner. Thill has lots of corners that are very safe to do this, and you can ruin a lap by having to lift for traffic.

Im out for April and May. My last final might be on the 5/4/20 so id just miss it.

Dunno. Point of this for me is to get back together and do a track day with my friends. Open passing isn't a deal breaker to me.

^ agreed. Yeah it'd be nice, but we don't exactly have a ton of options here.

Speed SF promises to release their 2020 schedule this week. They usually have a few weekends at Thunderhill.

As far as the "open passing" thing goes, most places don't appreciate trying to go two wide through corners anyways. Passing is still open other than that so I don't see how that's a big deal. Wouldn't stop me from attending one bit. Looking forward to seeing the speed SF schedule though if that presents any other options.

October for me just means my work has to suck it up People will get butthurt, but it's not the end of the world, I can definitely make it work. Especially since we should be able to make the drive in one day vs two, which means less time out of the office.

And agreed on open passing. Definitely preferred, but if we can't get an event with it, it's not a deal-breaker for me. I'm here to see all you knuckleheads. ****, who am I kidding, I'm driving the slow car this year so I'm gonna have to have my eyes on my mirrors the whole time anyway lol.

Not in CA. Speed Ventures, NCRC, SpeedSF, NASA, OnGrid, TMR, probably several others all have no issues going two wide through corners in their top level groups. OnGrid runs two open-passing advanced groups, SV has been known to run three separate open passing groups split up by lap times. IOW, most clubs and groups up here have a top-level group (or two) which is true open passing. Speed Ventures in particular will remove you from their open passing groups if you complain about being passed mid-corner in download meetings. It's an excellent litmus test for driver skill and awareness. If someone doesn't feel comfort in an open-passing environment, I don't want to share the track with them anyway.

Ergo: No open passing = hard pass.

Maybe just come have a beer with us then? Lol it's just hard to schedule something that works with everyone.

I'm open to SpeedSF but I know Ian won't run with them. Someone else hates TMR.

It just might be all we have available that works for everyone.

I don't think anyone hates TMR -- I'm not fond of them, but it's not a deal breaker the way SpeedSF is. Problem is that they don't have any appropriate events:

- Friday April 3 (nothing scheduled on April 2, April 4-5 is NASA)
- Friday July 31 (too hot)

Hm. Actually, now that I think about it, that might be NASA HPDE. I'd assumed it was a race-only weekend, but now I'm not sure. I don't know much about NASA HPDE, I've never run with them. 20 years ago when I started doing track days they had a reputation for being a crash fest, I'm told that's changed now but have never attended one. So maybe that's a candidate?
