My car may be put back together but can make no promises. I got hit by a drunk driver on saturday so I may be doing the new (used) car boogaloo. Miataspeed, when do you want to get the ic piping? That intercooler is lookin large and in charge!

 

Well for me to drive that far I'm gonna need promises lol. Anyone else gonna have some free time that weekend?

 

I wont be ready until may/june for sure lol.

OK guys. my miata is back on the road temporarily. Motor is coming out for a week or so but then it will be GOOD TO GO.

Pike season has started. I ran into FastColt last night and his car made me jealous (it actually looks nice AND runs).

Cant wait for the Uconn car show and some random meets we get going.

 

I didnt post in my build thread yet, but I spent the entire day yesterday getting the miata in road worthy condition.

I pulled everything off again except for the manifold. Downpipe leaks are welded closed and I wrapped it in some heat wrap up top. I pulled the entire exhaust and painted it 2000deg flat black. Had to make a cut in the exhaust to get the test pipe to fit, but now everything is in tight with no more leaks. I also used a gasket sheet and made gaskets for everything.

No more leaks, the car is WAY smoother, quieter, and runs stronger. I have something smoking though. I'm not sure if its the fiberglass heat wrap, the paint, gaskets, etc.....but it comes and goes. Everytime I pull over to find it, its gone.

Anyways, I'm back on the road so I should be good to meet up whenever.

 

I am almost positive it is your wrap. Mine still does it when I run her good and hard. I am almost ready to get mine on the street. Anybody know a shop that'll pass me for emissions?

 

what year are you? I am going thru emissions next week. Thats why I pulled the wastegate arm off, put the stock injectors maf and ecu in and have been driving around randomly.

Stupid OBD2.

 

Mine is a 90 so they won't be hooking into the data port...just a sniff I believe.

 

I went to COS's at the end of the turnpike....pretty nice guys and my car passed with flyin colors. Only sniffer for me as well, thank god

I wasnt in the miata. I was doing some tuning on my buddies megasquirt setup i just did on his 80's Merkur XR4ti

 

I worked on my car all weekend, I installed the new IC with all new brackets, routed all the IC pipes and I just sent the to get welded, fitted the new bumper and trimed it for the IC. Car should be running by the end of the week with no bumper, YES I still haven't painted it and I don't know what I'm waiting for lol

 

So then get that **** painted! Can't wait to see some more pics. Are you going to get the top painted red or black?

 

^^^ I still haven't decided, part of me wants black top with black windshield surround and the other part of me wants it red... I'm not really worried about it much since summer is around the corner and the top will never be on

 

I vote black top and windshield surround....it'll go nicely with the carbon hood

 

Good news I just ordered a $20 spray gun of eBay! LOL ... I'll go to paint world in new haven this week and get the paint and stuff. Car should be ready for the Uconn car show, will you guys be down to go? I know cspence said yes and 240_miata is running it so who else is coming?
