Ultimately the trip is to figure out where I like and would possibly want to move to next summer.

if your driving your car, you need to DRIVE your car on the track! they have hpde available. if not, you might be forced to get tire temp. readings in the hot pit lane, and possibly stopwatch some people for laptimes. lol

If you are not already planning to do so, make a stop at Barber in Birmingham. The motorcycle/car museum is amazing. The gods of speed will curse your journey if you do not stop at one of the great altars of racing.

TWS on Thankgiving sounds great to me. That track is unreal, I'm never lower than 4th gear. It feels like "Baby-leMans".

hustler 08-26-2011 09:41 AM

I don't know what trans you're on, but if you break something I have a garage full of parts, I'll probably have a trailer...and I even have a spare 6-speed if things go down-hill for your 5-speed. Actually, I have a free 5-speed if you broke that guy on the track.

I will remember that and try to check it out. When I do actually sit down and start to formalize my plans I will be making a thread asking about what other places I need to stop at and see.

I am running a 6 speed. I have a track day in 3 weeks and I will see how my car holds up after that.

While I would love to actually do that track day at TWS, I am a bit scared of tracking my car when I am halfway across the country from where I live. I might also not have the budget to drop $300-$400 on the weekend. We will see how things look when the date gets closer.

All else fails I will be your guys track bitch and help with whatever is needed.

hustler 08-26-2011 11:54 AM

What kind of a ****** drives half way across the country in his track car...to watch?

I've driven my car to Hallett 5 times, TWS twice, Austin 3 times, MSR-H 3 times, MSR-C twice, and ECR 3 times. I've made it back every time.

If you have a 6-speed, Inco safety-wired Inco CHRA bolts, heat sheilding over the turbo parts, a large ducted radiator, and an oil cooler, you will make it back to tobacco country.

I take a spare timing belt kit, wheel bearings, CAS, coils, roofies, igniter, rubber sheets, slave cylinder, rotors, and brake pads to every track event. I do this because I want to drive all day long...driving home is the easy part. The only thing that's going to keep your car from going back home is a hole in the block.

Fuck your Texas peer pressure. My 4th grade DARE teacher told me to say no to peer pressure. First I start with a random track day in Texas while I am visiting, then I will be chugging 4 Loco on the side of the track, after that comes someone trying to lure me back to their "Free Candy" Van for some fun, at the end of the day I am sucking dick to get me Hoosier tires.

I currently have no oil cooler and that will not happen this fall. CHRA is not safety wired yet, but I should be doing that in October some time.

If I have the money at the time and that is when I can make it out that weekend I will do the track day. If anything large brakes I guess there are enough of you guys with Miatas out there that I can find replacements. I will get in contact with you guys about it when it gets closer to finalize things if it happens.

hustler 08-28-2011 10:49 PM

You can safety wire in two days at the most after taking them out and getting them drilled, the oil cooler is cheap.

jacob300zx 08-29-2011 10:39 PM

Ebay oil cooler. The thing about Texas is were not pussies. So don't expect to show up and not drive.

Front plates are good for something after all.

OK so back to more pressing matters... Are we switching the TxMC date to October 9th?

spoolin2bars 08-31-2011 05:05 PM

don't know, waiting to hear back from the member of the track as to what's possible.

hustler 08-31-2011 05:09 PM

TXMC...Drinkin, shootin, racin!

ZX-Tex 08-31-2011 05:48 PM

I confirmed with the track that the BBQ event on October 8th is for members only. You can come as a spectator, but you cannot go out on the track.

Here is how the weekends in October line up:
- Sat October 1st is not available due to an event (Elite Track Days).
- Sun October 2nd is open though it seems like someone had a conflict with that weekend.
- Sat October 8th is a member's only event
- Sun October 9th is a regular member day so that one will work.
- Sat-Sun October 15-16 no good, I have a travel conflict
- Sat-Sun October 22-23 no good, I have a travel conflict
- Sat October 29th is ART Time Trials
- Sat October 30th is a regular member day so that one will work also.

So one thing that comes to mind is a possible double-header. Hit the ART event on Saturday Oct 29, stay over, TxMC on Sunday Oct 30.

spoolin2bars 08-31-2011 07:21 PM

Oct. 9TH it is! ..............until the next problem pops up.
not down with ART... they don't want you unless you have a viper, or spent $$$ at their shop. but that's just how i feel about it. i'm sure they like sombody, although at the last event they were talkin' shit about all non vipers.

hustler 08-31-2011 07:27 PM

lol @ our Viper crushing sessions.

jeff_man 08-31-2011 10:47 PM

The Boss is coming out to crush Vipers at HHR. As a side note I'm heading to TWS this weekend to watch Viper Cup and JZ run NAARA TT.
