Dessert Partnerships

In an effort to help our community, Great American Restaurants donates $.25 from the sale of each dessert to the charities below. Our bakery, Best Buns Bread Co., contributes 5% of all bread sales. In 2008, GAR donated $111,356 through this program.

Great American Dine Out
Great American Restaurants was a participant in Share our Strength's Great American Dine Out presented by American Express from September 20 - 26, 2009. This year, GAR donated $16,311 to Share Our Strength's efforts to end childhood hunger in America.

Celebrate Fairfax
Great American Restaurants is a Blue Ribbon Sponsor of Celebrate Fairfax. At our ever-popular booth, for $3, guests can spin the wheel to win a GAR gift card. Prizes include $10-$25 gift cards.

Taste of Arlington
Every year, Carlyle and Best Buns support the Taste of Arlington. Carlyle’s crab cake line is consistently the longest at the event. Taste of Arlington benefits Community Residences, Inc. (CR). CR is a leading non-profit provider of programs and services for individuals with mental retardation, mental illness, developmental and physical disabilities, as well as the homeless.

MDA Heartsongs Gala
Great American Restaurants was a “Destination Sponsor” at the 2007 MDA Heartsongs Gala. The event raised over $1 million to support families and research related to Muscular Dystrophy and ALS.

Capital Brewer’s Ball
Sweetwater Tavern is an annual participant of the Capital Brewer’s Ball benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Life with Cancer
Coastal Flats is a proud participant in Inova Cancer Services' Life with Cancer Event, taking place in November 2009.

Walk to D’Feet ALS
Great American Restaurants sponsored a team of over 100 walkers, raising almost $60,000 at this event. The Washington D.C. walk raised over a record $1 million to benefit local families and national research.

Taste of the Nation
Carlyle and Best Buns Bread Co. are proud supporters of Share Our Strength’s Annual Taste of the Nation. The event raises money to end childhood hunger in America.

ZooFari
Carlyle and Best Buns Bread Co. were participants at the 2007 National ZooFari.

Fairfax Spotlight on the Arts
Artie's is an annual supporter of the Fairfax Spotlight on the Arts Opening Reception.

Walk for Autism - Virginia
Great American Restaurants was a Gold Sponsor at the 2007 5K Autism Walk and Community Resource Fair. Money raised by the walk will continue to fund educational scholarships for children with autism in the Northern Virginia area.

A Night at the Yards
Sweetwater Tavern is a proud supporter of Living Classroom's of the National Capital Region annual event, A Night at the Yards.

Taste of the Town
Jackson's Mighty Fine Food & Lucky Lounge was a proud supporter of the 18th Annual Taste of the Town in Reston Town Center. The event raises money to benefit The Leukemia Lymphoma Society, Light the Night Walk.
