Default informal miata challenge @ tws trackday

all this talk of miata challenge has me thinking we should get together in TX. for something like this. why couldn't we do an informal challenge here in texas? texas world speedway has started having open track days for cheap!
$115 dollar pre register get's you track time between 3:30 and 7:30pm run when you want for as long as you want. it also includes a garage space with a work bench, electrical outlet AND catered dinner from OUTBACK! can't beat that deal if you ask me. we could pick a date or dates (2 friday's a month through october available) and have our own little miata challenge.
i doubt we could get enough cars together to have our own day at tws, but we don't need to. we have been doing time attack/super lap battle type events here in so. tx. during scca auto-x or pca de/tt. basically the event runs like any regular event. but those of us from certain forums that are competing have our own classes apart from the club having the event. we would keep track of lap times and afterwards would post the results.
who's in?

dates available: 9/11, 9/25, 10/9, 10/23 any thoughts? vote on it.
there are some aug. dates available, but there's a nasa event on the 1st/2nd. and i'd like to give everyone more notice to get off work prep cars, etc.. plus it's soooo hot in august, i'm hoping it would be cooling down by sept./oct.

I think I could make that 10/8 date. I have been wanting to try the Miata at TWS for a change (instead of my bike). The afternoon/evening schedule is cool too since I could drive up from SA in the morning. No need to get a hotel the night before.

Would the course be the 2.9 mile CCW?

yes, 2.9 mile course. ccw, most likely, but won't know for sure until a month or so before the trackday. i don't know which way i like more. i've run ccw more often, so i feel more comfortable going that direction, but going cw is really fun too. cw you enter off the banking and INTO the chicane. plus going downhill on the banked turn leading to back straight is exciting.

^ Yeah I thought going into the chicane from the front straight would be interesting. I did not think about Turn 7 onto the back straight though. You are right that would be cool. Out of all the tracks we (the CMRA) race at that is one of my favorite corners. Lots of positive camber.

It's $115 and you have 3 months to gather it. Go mow some lawns or work at McDonals for 3 days.
