I would do that before I went to larger brakes.

Next time you should park closer to everyone instead of keeping to yourself

I think the master is dying. super blue, hawk blue, steel. The pedal is dropping to the floor after long- straights, and I have to check up and pump the brakes to slow down. John enjoyed it, lol.

I wanted to park over there but I couldn't park my truck and trailer anywhere close.

Pitlab77 01-31-2010 01:34 PM

why dont you change the master first then.

Brake feel will change anway after you slap the bigger pistons in with the wilwoods. Might as well determine the cause first.

ZX-Tex 01-31-2010 01:39 PM

The picture of that rear tire on the Ferrari gives me a woodie.

I'm with Pitlab. Try the cheap fixes first.

I plan to replace the brake hose with the 1-way valve, then look to the master, then scratch my head...but after I isolate the problem the Wilwoods are going on. There's no sense in running the sport brakes any longer.

rharris19 01-31-2010 04:51 PM

I had a blast NA at the event. My wilwood kit is AMAZING. I could brake way later than I could with the M-tuned kit and both have carbotech XP12s. The event was fun and got to meet a lot of people from the forum which was nice.

Sorry for being away from everyone, but things were constantly needing attention from one of the cars. The downpipe broke off at the flange from it being so damn old and getting a lot of heat from the car going into some mode where it was uber retarded.

jacob300zx 01-31-2010 06:39 PM

Just got back, had a blast! I think Fancy pants ran a 2:05 with me driving and 2:03 with Stubbs driving. Not bad for only having 3rd gear...lol I drove a street class car in mod to try to get a better time and only ended up with .5 sec slower...ugh fancy pants had so much potential, guess I'm selling her...jk Got a bunch of pics I'll post later.

Trey's brakes and suspension need some work before the next event. The pedal was soft and he and I both left lots of time on the track due to having to check up on the brake pedal 2 or 3 times in a braking zone just to keep from going off of the track.

I hope you don't have the impression that we were "keeping to ourselves". That was not the reasoning behind our pit location. Everything we needed was in the truck or toolbox trailer. Keeping the hauler close by was necessary and we still managed to meet almost everybody. Having easy access to everything was key to the location.

spoolin2bars 01-31-2010 10:40 PM

first off i would like to thank everyone that showed up despite the frigid temps. i can't remember the last time i actually shivered! worst part is i had the great idea of driving to the event in 30deg. weather without a back window! anyway's it was great seeing everybody and meeting some new peeps from the forums, and hustler is even more buff in person, don't fuck with him!

as far as results, it was a lot tougher to get them together since somebody with nasa forget the transponders! whoever did that should be demoted to bathroom cleanup for the remainder of the year. luckily a few had traqmates
and thanks to ken-o from the dfw miata boards for loaning out his maxQdata laptimer to a couple of the guys. the rest we had to click off with a stopwatch. i'm sure nasa won't let that happen again as they may have lost a couple thousand dollars over it.

before the confusion, scratching of the head, and possible weeping ensues.
modified class was tight and i had to go with what information i had to hand out trophy's. because of the lack of transponders and trouble getting times from people, i will be changing up some procedures for the next event. i will have a board up with everybody's current fastest lap time. that way everyone can see where they are at, and if there is a discrepncy it can be handled immediately. i didn't have a lap time at all for one of the guys, and didn't have the fastest lap time down for another. best i can come up with is what's done is done that day. but after further review, timing and scoring have awarded series points as they should have been placed. it's our first event and we have learned alot about what needs to be done. so hopefully the next runs smoothly. it was suggested that i wait to hand out trophy's until the following event to be sure of lap times and what not. only problem i have with that is what if the person that won at msr houston isn't going to make the msr cresson event for instance. i'm hoping a leader board will solve this problem and we can hand out trophies same day.

one other problem is, if you plan on being in the challenge, you have to find us and sign-up. i only need a little info, takes literally seconds to do. i really need you signed in before the first session. help me help you.

other than that i saw a bunch of badass miata's out there. double 0 86 has a really nice and clean nb. hustler's absurdflow manifold/turbo setup looks even better in person and what's up with that baller tow rig? matching trailer wheels ftw! wanted to thank jnshk (new member mt.net) for the ride to the parts store after my oil cooler line busted. you really helped me out. nice to meet tann3r, wish i would have been able to chat with ya, but i had my hands full at that moment, hope you can join us on track next time. i've got some video that i'll try to post up tomorrow.

johnwag 01-31-2010 10:58 PM

I had the thought in my mind that Joe was probably faster in his Spec. Looks like i have his trophy, lol.

rharris19 01-31-2010 11:13 PM

Damn I need to get faster. I am going to be pulling out the 250K motor and rebuild it with some 11:1 pistons. That and get a real diff because mine was picking up the rear inside wheel and messing me up.

tann3r 01-31-2010 11:37 PM

Nice to meet all of yall, I'll be driving at the next one for sure. The mod class looks really close, if i cant afford another set of NT01's it looks like i'll be in Mod.

I got some pictures I'll add to the thread in the media section tomorrow.

The guy that ran the 1:47 is one of my buddies and this is was only his 3rd track event. He is naturally VERY good at these things, but we try not to say anything so it doesn't go to his head. He is a cool guy and damn fast. He has a name on here but hasn't ever posted and just searches around for things.

The surprise Unlimited win was cool. This will keep spoolin2bars on his toes! I've decided not to run TT anymore this year until some of you mod guys move up. I'm here to get faster and it would be a lot easier if I was w2w with the rest of the class. I will be in HPDE4 until there is enough in TT to have fun.

We really need to all pit together as thats kind of the spirit of the whole deal here in Texas. I know that parking sucked but lets all try to make an effort to group up so we can help each other out. We need to get up to pace quick to be ready for the Cali ladies!:hustler: I did manage to run a 2:02 Sunday in my buddies street class car with my 205 RA1's. Hope to get my car reliable so I can play.

I want to see the pic of that Lexus chasing down the Ferrari. :bowrofl:

rharris19 02-01-2010 08:22 AM

That guy was good! The things he did with that ES300 were amazing. I though he was a joke at first and then I saw that he was almost keeping up with me in a couple parts. Very impressed.

hustler 02-01-2010 09:09 AM

did I mention that 9" 6ULs are the shit and get tons of bitches? I'm going to run MSR this weekend or next with properly functioning brakes and see what happens. I'm not really happy with my times but I'm certain they'll get better with properly functioning brakes (lol) and seat time on that track.

What is the status on the possible HHR event?

Who's paying for all these trophies? Maybe we should contribute a one-time fee for TXMC services.

SnakeKP 02-01-2010 09:09 AM

Had a blast, nice to meet you guys, cant wait for the next one!!

hustler 02-01-2010 09:15 AM

Did everyone run their hot-laps in session #3? I timed #4 when the temperature dropped significantly.

jacob300zx 02-01-2010 10:17 AM

I hand clocked a bunch of you in session 4, with transponders it will be a lot more accurate.

rharris19 02-01-2010 10:29 AM

Michael ran his timed lap in #4 with a transponder. We only had one transponder so we had to share it. My times were done in the #3 but I wish it was in the #4 as we stiffened up the shocks a lot and it felt much better.
