Sweet, man. I wish I had an MT.net shirt, would have made some things easier.
Curly, I appreciate your enthusiasm. I DID take the corkscrew sideways, plus went off the track at turn 3 during my last session. Session 3 was a huge headache and one and two were no passing allowed. But overall I was pretty happy with it for my first outing. Last session I just kept shouting
"This track is freaking fantastic!!!! "
I do wish I had taken the time beforehand to prepare something to capture speed and stuff but I failed at that. Just my cell phone in a shaky mount.
Whatever. It was fantastic.
I'll be there for a bit tomorrow but will probably head out right around lunchtime.

Sorry I was MIA all day and missed you guys. I got home last night and immediately crashed out with the worst head cold I've had in years. I have no idea where this came from. I went from having a little tickle in my throat to full on sinus blockage in about an hour and a half. I didn't get moving until about 1pm I just hope I'm functional tomorrow.
Ed, get that video uploaded! Too much speed or bad track position when you went off at 3?

Josh, you're hilarious. SM record is like 1:46 something IIRC.
Jeff, thanks. I'm glad you made it safely and wish you could have been there.
G, the off was a combination of two things: I overcooked the entry, and when I realized I overcooked it, I breathed on the brakes which really messed things up.
Rear end started stepping out a bit just after turn-in. That had happened before, so no biggie at first, but then I realized I was going quite a lot faster than I should have been. I breathed on the brakes and then it REALLY started to come around. I realized I could either correct the slide and go off the track forwards and straight, or I could NOT correct the slide and go off the track backwards/sideways. I chose the first one.
Video is uploading. Hotel wifi. It's been working on it for at least 2 hours and is still says 280 minutes remaining...

Spent the day getting the Exocet ready today. Around 4 I decided to call it good and go for a shake down drive in it... down hwy 1 from hwy 84 to Laguna Seca.
Got there just as it got dark, ate my free dinner at the track, and drove up 101 home.
Got home a found the short the caused my cluster to fail (no tach and no speedo made for an interesting 200 mile round trip). And now I'm gonna get cleaned up and go to bed so I can get up and do the same drive tomorrow but with hot laps in between! Come find me if you want a ride in an Exo somewhat in between war machine and FMs yellow thing.
I'm in run group C, red body work, black frame, and zip ties like you wouldn't believe!

You missed out, Gesso would have made you crap your pants. He took my advice and put arm tethers in the car so you even get a little bondage to go with the experience. He offered to let me drive it but I was so sick and miserable by that time that I just sat out the last session. I had no business being on the track in such terrible shape.
Ran into BBundy, mr_hyde, bellwilliam and some other people I'm sure I'm forgetting. Had to try desperately not to shake hands with everyone and spread this plague.
Even with being sick today was totally worth it though. I had a ******* blast.

Got there Friday night late, woke up here.
Toured the garages and got swag.
Got in line for parade lap, looked like someone spilt a bag of skittles.
No traffic, got to rip the corkscrew
Traffic lap
Watched the screw
Drove back today on 1 then cut over on 58 to 5.
Fun weekend, love that catfish

Had a great time out there, don't know if I met any of you besides Qckslvr, who I was working with in the merch tent. Pretty sure he isn't all that active here anymore.
Got a ride along with Brian Goodwin and Savington. Sav's gotten a lot more aggressive in his driving than in the turbo days, in a good way. Riding with him in A group felt like having the best seats in the house at a SM race.
Qckslvr's driving a P1800 these days:

That was a super cool wagon. Figures it'd belong to an MT.netter.
I should have spent more time there Sunday. Never made it to see the catfish :(
What an awesome trip though!!
