Default 2 Mile Autocross Video and Pics

Hey guys,

I made a video of an autocross I did a few weeks ago using multiple camera angles. I know I'm no Schumacher but there's some cool shots.

I hit many cones but consistently had the same times as an STI with Hoosiers And yeah, I have as much body roll as an SUV.

Here's some pics from a different Miata event at the same place. Just ignore all the chipped paint (and my broken bumper ):

This isn't my car:

Dude, what is your setup that you're keeping up with STIs on hoosiers? STIs consistently trump my times by many seconds even when driven by novices. How much experience do you have?

I probably just really suck at driving.

Yeah, it's an amazing place for autocross. SO much better than a tiny parking lot. The airfield is located in Ayer, MA, about 45 minutes west of Boston.

miataspeed, join the Renegade Miata club. There's one more autocross this season in a couple of weekends. There's about five clubs that regularly rent the place out every weekend during the season. Go to motorsportsreg.com and look up Devens, I just joined every club I could (except for the BMW CCA, screw them).

Wayne, I'm running 205 Falken Azenis tires with craptastic Tokico Illumina shocks. I'm fairly experienced, but I'm nowhere near a pro yet. At these autocrosses Miata turbos and Corvettes tend to dominate (fastest time of the day was a 2nd gen turbo). I'm sure that STI could've gone much faster, but he didn't

Yeah, I'm stuck with the one mile x two mile pad that they held nationals on this (and likely many more) years to come. j/k

Looks like a good run on for being on Azenis. They aren't known to be very fast any more with all the new stuff that's out (RS3's, Dizera Star Spec, etc, r comps not withstanding) Get yourself some r comps and shave 2 seconds, four with that long of a course and pwn that STI something fierce.

Well, the Azenis are my street tires. My next upgrade is Koni adjustable shocks and some better springs, then r-comps. At Devens r-compounds can literally take off 5 or more seconds! Fastest time of the day was 10 seconds ahead of me and the guy had at least 10 grand into his Miata.

i love slaloms as much as the next guy, but holy shet! that course was one giant slalom!

btw, what springs are you running? those shocks with nb tophats all around and ebay coilovers 450/350 or you can buy qa1 springs to replace the ebay ones in 350/250lb rates and you'll be good. you'll have more suspension than tire.

+1 on the guy with the 'stache... both comical and awesome. Comical, well just look at the guy, awesome because he's still out there thrashing the car and looks to be around my dads age (and I'm 48)

Nice video editing! I really like how it turned out! Our auto-x spots in KY suck big donkey *****! We use to race on Fort Knox's airfield, but when the base got a new general they kicked us off! now we get a stadium parking lot with a bunch of complaining blue hairs next to it.

Wow. The Atlanta Region is a great setup but the tracks we have are nothing compared to that. That's more like a hot lap of a track than a 45 second autocross.

Nice video! You are lucky to get lots of race time per run. I thought our region (Pan Am) had a long course... How many runs do you get? I also noticed that your Shoei helmet looks like it reads "130Hz".

A huge course like that could make me appreciate autoX a whole lot more! I hate 30-40 second courses.

I'm actually upgrading to Koni 3-way adjustable shocks, but I haven't decided on springs yet. I honestly haven't heard of QA1 but I'll look into them! I need something to match the r-comps I'm getting

Great, now I CAN'T UNSEE 130HZ haha. We get about 10 runs per day with the SVT club, other clubs are usually less (BMW CCA, SCCA etc).

Thanks for all the compliments, I'm hoping to have some more epic footage next season with the new camera I'm getting! I really recommend that anyone in the New England area come to an autocross here, they really are like nothing else.

QA1 are just good cheap springs that you can pick whichever rate/height.
