By size alone, the SS seems to command a bit more respect than a Miata on the road, but that being said, and as this thread is proof, there is no shortage of imbeciles out there. The unfortunate part of it is that parts for a Miata are plentiful, but since Holden shut down, SS parts are already starting to become scarce. Be careful out there.

Want to know what driving in Detroit is like?

Exactly this:
I'm already doing 70 and get passed by someone in the turn lane! SO AWESOME I LOVE IT

I also love how just yesterday i talked about how i didn't want to generate content like this with the new car.

sixshooter 07-01-2018 08:12 PM

Sign says 45. Y U doing 70?

Erat 07-01-2018 09:59 PM

Because rules and laws do not matter.

Really it's 60 but goes down to 45 where the lane is closed down for construction.

This one is kinda long but the sheer amount of fail is endlessly entertaining. If you want the money shot, skip to 8:18, but the pre-amble is worth at least sampling.

Where to start? Goofy helmet and aviator goggles; Non-stop camera whoring; Poor technique; No instructor for his first-ever track day; Racing other cars; the list goes on and on. Too bad a nice Lotus had to suffer for his idiocy.

Erat 07-04-2018 12:32 AM

Having raced that track countless times on the simulator, that is literally the last spot i ever crash... That's hilarious.

weird, didnt hear the horn...

Erat 07-29-2018 01:17 PM

I never seem to use the horn. Not sure why.

Braineack 07-29-2018 09:23 PM

how will people learn if you dont teach them?!

ryansmoneypit 07-30-2018 07:51 AM

Lotus- two feet in would have prevented all of that.

Seems to me that modern cars with anti-lock brakes makes 2-feet-in not work any longer..

Huh? ABS makes it work even better.

My thought was that the point of "2 feet in" was to lock the wheels so that the car spins, but the trajectory is not altered. It seems to me that by not being able to lock the wheels, that they would re-grip at an unknown place in the rotation of the car, and nothing prevents the car from then shooting across the track.

Educate me.

ryansmoneypit 09-02-2018 02:58 PM

My only education is that I've always been told 2 feet in. Abs is not new. Abs will keep the tires near lock until you stop. Not sure how to argue that other than, leaving the rear tires under power while the fronts are trying to stop, isn't going to help anyone.

Tho only time I have seen otherwise, is in the dirt. Off road trucks routinely avoid rollovers by stomping on the gas while making side contact with dirt ditches.

Braineack 09-02-2018 03:10 PM

2 feet in is a safety thing. regardless of abs or not -- it gets your foot off the gas and disconnects the drive wheels. it's what separates the men from the mustang owners leaving a cars and coffee.

ryansmoneypit 09-02-2018 03:18 PM

How in the hell is is legal to consider your helmet as rollover protection?

dasting 10-22-2018 05:00 PM

Hilariously bad design for an autocross course. Mustang crashes into parked Miata.

Braineack 10-23-2018 08:50 AM

I blame the event staff for this one -- that's the most horribly laid-out autocross course ive ever seen and put people/cars right in the path of a hot course.
