IIRC compressor surge is bad for the bearings as it's a violent change in direction

The "dose" sound so popular among the gay crowd is particular to certain under-performing car platforms and CAN NOT be replicated using a Miata.

While I agree it's hard on turbos, I'll also admit to liking the sound somewhat.

Probably comes from being around when 935's, 962's, and the IMSA/Trans Am Audi's were new (none of whom used a BOV/Bypass and get crazy compressor surge on shifts)

There are probably 4 or 5 examples in the first 40 seconds...
