Default Epic finish at Talladega yesterday

I don't watch Nascar but the last 3 laps were crazy.

Crazy finish for sure. Good thing the fence did it's job, that could have been a lot worse.

Neither do I, but its a requirement that I watch the Talladega race. Very lucky Newman didn't get through the fence. Looks like part of the fence whipped in and nearly hit some of the people in the first row. Also lucky he didn't then get T-boned when he came to a stop. Pretty good finish, I just can't stand Nascar anymore. 80% commercials and soap opera and 20% racing.

At 6:07 the car that starts getting airborn has some sort of air brakes that open on the roof. Thats pretty neat.

Restrictor plate races like talladega and daytona are so insanely boring. That youtube video is ALL you need to see of the entire race.

I'm pretty impressed with that fencing to be able to contain that mess.

Don't let the invisible fire get my friend!

And I just watched Talladega Nights on surfthechannel.com last night, weird.

Nascar crash compilations on youtube are pretty sweet, and the only thing the "sports" good for.

Those air brakes have been on the car for a few years now. Seems like they do more bad than good though. They make the roof of the car a pivot point. Watch some compilations, you'll see the ones without going pretty fast through the grass and such, but whenever those air brake cars go backward, the back end lifts up and they flip.

Wow, what a mess... but the scary part is all the debris that flew off the car and into the grandstands... notice the carb is missing!!! ****, imagine just sitting there in your seat and being nailed with that thing!!! ouch, that's gonna leave a mark!

Anyhow, the race was pretty neat since nearly 50% of the field was in one of the several massive wrecks. Likely the most entertaining race I've seen in a long while.

Kudos to the people at NASCAR for making it safe!!! Could you imagine if that fence gave way? Ugly thought!!!

Cheers,
Prospero
(And yes, I'm a NASCAR fan... and was part of several teams over 7 years! It's not just goin left and talking smack! If you ever get the chance, get into the infield for a race and check it out in person... cool *** **** there!)
