to be fair, this makes it sound like the boost eventually caused your heart to stop once you got home and went to sleep. And I think you told me it was cheezburgrs and fries that tried to kill you.

Previous car was bent while top was attached and it took a set.

All I want to do is drive my car. Please. Any other time is fine, but not right now.

I take a few years off to start a career and lose 150lbs and I still get made fun of.

I took it off and will list it for sale.

Lining up body panels can turn into a daunting and frustrating task if you haven’t done it before. Once you spend time practicing adjusting things, you will be amazed how a body part that clearly looks totally screwed up will end up fitting perfectly. Be patient and keep at it. I bet you will get it.

When I bought my race top, I thought it was garbage. I didn’t think it was possible to get it to fit. Yes, I had to do some body work, but most of the fitment issues were solved by pulling here, moving this and that, and a big dose of patience.

Did I not tell you to do this very same adjustment two posts above 99mx5 (post #11)? And you replied that "Thanks for the tip, but to no avail." WTF?

Calm your ****. I adjusted the two screws holding the plates to slide it back and forth like you said but it wouldn't catch (or even touch) the franks. Taking them all the way off and sliding the top back farther helped a hair more but the top is warped.

Don’t be afraid to tug and pull. It helps if you have help.

I'm not gonna risk hurting it just to make it fit. It's so tight on the driver's side that I fear going over a curb at an angle will crack it. In order to get the latches on, I had to put them together off the windshield and pull them down and then tighten them slowly. At the same time, the frankenstein bolt is pushed directly into the rear lip of the hardtop. I think it'll loosen up some, eventually, but I don't want to risk damaging the top anymore.

Sell it. Take the money you get, add $200, and get a black one that fits your car.

Find another NB and pop it on as a sanity check.

You've adjusted the front strikers, yes?

I seem to recall there's some slight differences between the alignment pins on the striker plates between the NA6/8/NB. Wonder if that's causing it to draw up too far, throwing off the gaps.

Edit: The nipple on the NA8's is a bit fatter than the NA6 - might be trying to draw the top up too much. https://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=548046 has some more info.

It’s kind of hard to explain the process, but I will try. Also, I am assuming it hasn’t been modified to fit a bent car.

Put the top on. See if there are any attachment points that will connect and attach loosely. Go to other attachment points and pull or push and get it as close as you can. If it won’t fit, go to another point and see if you can get it to attach. Attach as many points as you can loosely. If there are points that won’t attach, go to the first attachment and remove fastener. If there are adjustable attachments, be sure to loosen. Go back and forth and around and around to pull the top back and forth.

You pull here, push there, and massage the top and get each point closer and closer. The key is patience and excepting the fact it may take more than a few minutes. If you can’t get it, put some tension and tighten some of the attachment points, and come back to it later.

Hope me that helps.
