Default Knox Mountain Hill Climb 2011

Just got back home from a successful weekend at the Knox Mountain Hill Climb in Kelowna, BC. It was an eventful weekend, setting a new record with 17 crashes, 7 of which were total write offs. Of the write off's, a 3.9L 996 GT3 Cup Car replica, a 1977 (?) TransAm which the owner had owned since he was 18 and has raced at Knox for years and almost set a new class record before crashing, a propane powered turbo Prelude which runs sub 2:00 and a 964 911.

This was my second year at the hill. I managed to go the whole weekend without a single mechanical and managed to better my previous personal best of 2:08.

I may try to get down to Cascade Lakes Hill Climb and Bible Creek later this summer.

Here are a few pics, video of my fastest run is currently loading on youtube.

And just hanging in pits (I'm in the pink/red shirt) The GT3 in the background is the one that crashed.

I'll find some pictures of the other cars, but photos haven't really popped up yet but will soon.

Vid of the GT3 crashing into turn 1. Epic fail.

My car seems to be the preview still for this vid below

News peice with a friends turbo Miata in it

http://www.chbcnews.ca/video/index.h...i_VrR791sSJM25

Anyone know who George Bowland is? He's some hot shot from N.C. who talked a lot of game from what I heard from other drivers on how he was going to take the hill record and didn't even come close... neat car though. He hit 103MPH on the straight and managed a 1:42, record is 1:37 and the fellow who holds it hit over 130MPH.

Yup, Roger was there.

Here is the video of my best run. Had one last run after which was a 2:04.2 but I blew corner 3 (2nd hairpin) and missed 3rd gear coming onto the straight. It was on par to be faster than my 2:03, but oh well. Still happy with the 2:03.2. More boosts and A6's next year. Hankooks were great but I need MORE stick :P

Not sure about the a mod car. One green super7 is running a c30/94 rotrex on a zx14 motor and the black one is run ing an n/a busa motor.

Crash in turn 5. *The most crashed corner because of the misleading entry. *It tightens up. *If you watch my vid, there is a corner with a tire wall right before the two straights. * That turn 5.*

I just did some calculations. According to my datalogs I hit 7700RPM in 4th gear by the end of the straight. Taking into account my wheel/tire diameter, 4th gear ratio (1:1) and my 4.1 final drive that equates to approx 112MPH or 180KPH. Not bad.

That looks like an awesome event. What sort of safety equipment do you need? Can any car off the street enter this race?

No. This year was the last year rear bars were allowed for street prepared car next year full cage. On top of that, seat, harness, fire ext., driver gear (suit, gloves, socks, bala, shoes, sa helmet) etc. And you need a race license.
