Those pictures are giving me ideas for how to design/fab the endplates on my splitter. Very cool.

Trackdayhookey your car is tits. Very nice. Is that the Carbontrix 18x10 extractor on your hood? How is it working for you? I just added one to the hood of my NA track car within about an inch or less of where you have yours.

It's the Carbontrix. The cooling is working fine, although I did everything at once so I can't identify if any one change makes the most difference. My guess is that a complete seal around the radiator (so that the only way air that comes in the big oval hole can escape is through the radiator) has the most effect. The pressure on top of the hood near the front is low (based on the testing of others), so venting the engine compartment into that should help too.

OK same deal here. I am doing several things at once (splitter, radiator ducting, extractor) so it will be hard for me to tell as well. I suppose I could always tape it off for a session and see how much higher the coolant and oil temps are.

Once again I wish I had a Magnahelic. I need to get one.

Thanks

emilios car is going to look even more badass in about two months or less

ZX-Tex 04-13-2010 03:05 PM

Yes Emilio's car is awesome. That splitter and canard setup is very nice work IMO. Plus he has the fastback setup on the hard top.

Me either. It is pretty easy to accidentally make the GoPro HD take a still instead of start the video. So I have a nice still, looking out of the garage at the rain, instead of you and I playing super-soaker.

ZX-Tex 04-13-2010 08:36 PM

What tires were you guys running during the wet sessions?

bellwilliam 04-13-2010 08:39 PM

me on bald NT01, all others were on old r-comp also. I've brought a set of new RA1, but never got to use it. that was the most fun session I've had in last few years. picture was the last session before they shut the track down. river everywhere. slightest throttle kicks the tail out. I can't imagine how Savington or Bundy drove their high torque monsters.

NT01, about half worn. In anything other than standing water the grip was pretty good. In standing water, and there was plenty, the grip was zero.

Thanks!

But the video gives a really optimistic view of the car's performance.

Compared to other advanced (i.e. open passing/"race-like" conditions) run groups, the MRLS advanced group was 80% intermediate drivers, many carrying passengers.

There were about 5 quick cars out of the 25 in the group. The others were street cars (some with lots of power but not setup for go-fast), or race/track cars being driven cautiously. So lots of rolling chicanes to encounter.

In a group of similarly fast cars with good drivers, I could only hope for mid-pack times.

Machismo 04-14-2010 10:57 AM

/\ No matter... still one fast buffalo! Props!

Your car only has 230 whp? I thought it was one of the 300+ cars. That explains why I was pulling on it in the B group that one session with my gt2554.
