Miata vs Sti
#8
No ****. "Hey lets put the corner of *** end of my POS about 12 inches from where the Subie will be hurtling along by side by side with the Miata @ about 85 MPH."
Sweet vid. I have never been impressed with the straight-line capabilities of the WRXs. They just never seem as fast as the HP/TQ/Lbs numbers would indicate. Miatas on the other hand

They can be very nasty if modded right.
When stock or close to stock unfortunately they're not all that fast due to havnig an engine designed for midrange instead of topend, a turbo that runs out of steam past 5500, shitty gearing (designed for rally type driving), and being heavy (3000-3200lbs)

just wait... in 3 weeks or so there will be an epic video of me kicking my girlfriends *** in her modded 02 WRX (stock turbo, 18 psi, full 3" exhaust, STI injectors, huge frontmount, accessport tuned) ~240 awhp

She's running a huge front mount with stock turbo? That's the stupidest **** ever. Also, sti injectors? Why? that td04 barely maxes out the stockers running 20psi and rich as hell. Sounds like her wrx is modded retardedly and I doubt its making 240whp. Just my opinion though.
she is broke and so was her ex. Yes you do need bigger injectors tho the bigger ones are no where near maxed out. She did have the intentions of putting a bigger turbo on but rebuilt the motor instead when the headgasket went. Her front mount is somewhat unnecessary and is more for looks, but when you pay 200 for a full greddy front mount WHY NOT. . . oh and here is a dyno graph with the timing cranked up a bit. It made 250 awhp on the same dyno same day that i made 206:
BTW her ex also happens to be a big competitor to ECS tuning in CT for subaru swaps. He has done some pretty impressive swaps and is good friend wtih the former owner of ECS. It is by no means stupidly modded. It just is done on a budget.

You should be able to walk her hard. A stock turbo wrx is only good for a decent launch and 1st 2 gears til it runs out of breath.
Anyways, sorry for threadjack

I've been tinkering with and tuning these things for the past few years. Believe me, now matter how much boost you run through that turbo it WILL NOT max out the injectors man. It tapers up top down to like 12-13psi MAX regardless of how unrestrictive the exhaust is. It simply is too small. Same goes for front mount: while cheap and cool looking its actually robbing her of power. 250AWHP has GOT to be on a dynojet or some other higher reading dyno cause 240whp on a GOOD setup with a GOOD tune on the 2 liter wrx's is about as high as it gets on that shitty td04. If the tuner knows what they're doing it will usually put out high 200's for torque and 230-240 for wheel power on a GOOD tune.
You should be able to walk her hard.

OK thread jack done after this:
18, i forgot you work on subbies too...so you do know your ****.
Like i said... most of the mods were done due to randomly finding deals and hoping for more mods in the future. The front mount did allow her to add some more timing so i doubt she lost much power if any, but I see where you are comming from.
The dyno was dyno dynamics. Like I said, i put down numbers right on where I should be so I believe it.
I did lie a little tho... that is with a SHITLOAD of timing added because her ex thought it would be funny to finish off the motor that already was trashed from the headgasket. I think that last dyno run was at about 250+ *F coolant. Her initial run on her current tune dynoed somewhere around 225-230 if i remember correctly. Still, on a more healthy motor I think she should be around 235.
/ threadjack. go kill some subbies people.
