Not for anything, but what is so special about the Miata that I need to have direct experience with engine swaps in a Miata? But to answer your questions, no I dont have a 350whp Miata and no I have never been involved in an engine swap in a Miata. So let me guess, go jerk it? The thing is, you have prejudiced me as a noob. You think I have done zero homework on the subject. You probably also think I have zero automotive knowledge. You'd be wrong on both accounts. But that is a matter that is drifting off topic so if you have any interest in my background, PM me. And the Miata I have is coming along. Currently has a working DIYPNP, and a VVT engine waiting for install with a new 949 clutch and 15x10 wheels.

The reason I brought up the swap was because of the relevance of the engine thats in the Focus and the comments about the BP in another post. The Duratec or is it Zetec engine in the Focus (if it hasn been swapped for something else) and the MZR are the same. The fact is that the BP is limited in what it can do, or better said, what it can become especially for those of you that are only after insane amounts of power for banzai highway runs. Yes, it can make huge power from the as delivered form but at what RPM and how useful is it? A 2.5L engine with a much better flowing head would make a better starting platform to achieve 600hp as opposed to the 1.8L BP engine. At this point, does it really matter about money? How much of the as delivered engine are you going to use? You are going to have to go through both engines for that kinda power so starting with a better base is well, better. I understand there is fab work, never though there wouldnt be. But are you just bolting things onto the 1.8L BP and making 600hp? If so then I will just shut my noob mouth. Otherwise, quit jerking around if you really want that kind of power in a Miata. Get the MZR in there (just cuz its Mazda as anything else would work) and make the power. Or, buy a NC and start with a native MZR platform.

I like to autox and chose the NA for its entry level price, lightest attainable weight, and less emissions factor. The NB would be better but I would have to spend more originally or get a project car. I needed something I could drive and build up with little downtime. The NC would be better in many areas but I think would have fallen short in other areas and it would cost me a whole lot more. In SSM we are allowed the MZR and I have looked at it. If the BP doesnt cut it, I will look into doing the MZR but I figure with the useable power that some of you guys have made here in the 350whp/330wtq level, I will be fine with a BP. I would still love to have the turbo on the pass side and the alum block.

cool novel bro.
So you don't have a high powered miata. You haven't done any swaps on the miata. So you're talking out of your ***.
IDGAF about any of the other self horn-tooting drivel. Literally every other noob comes in here with that ****.

So yeah.....Go jerk it.

For the record, I'm not just picking on you. Its just annoying to be hearing "just throw in a xxxx in there" from people that haven't done it and have no clue what they're talking about.

Kinda like back in the day when I was led to beleive "the LSx basically drops right in". Making it sound like its a 2 hour swap.

My original point was this: if you want that much power, start with a different platform. To spend 20k swapping a MZR engine then boosting it just to keep up with a focus? LOL

You want a highway monster, get an s2k or supra.

Yep, im just some noob that would have no idea about anything. But I'm drinking milk and when I grow up I want to be just like you. Thanks for taking the time to point out that a Miata is not a highway beast and then laughing at one for getting beaten by a Focus. Its a good thing you have three of them. And ever wonder why someone would throw that much money at a Miata to stick in a LSx? Hell, some people do it to a FD. Some people are just not as smart as you I guess. Flame away, I'll be jerking it.

Or you could just buy a focus and mod that to keep up!

Awesome find man! That's definitely it, he's got a video from the trip down here posted on his youtube:

I've been trying to find out more info on the car, I knew there was no way in hell that thing was making 400whp, lol. I knew he was going to kill me, but certainly wasn't expecting the beating I took.

I think Vlad is going a weeee bit too far in this thread. The n00b is nothing like Hyper....n00b has no crazy ideas and **** that will never work...and this one speaks in complete, correct sentences.

Big deal that BPs aren't highway monsters....I'd rather be where I am required to use all three pedals anyway.
