depends on the turbo. I have a large T3 and never had to touch it.

It was a huge pain, to make matters worse I only had a hacksaw.

I figured I'd be one of the unlucky few that had to cut

I was going to cut and weld it, but decided a large hammer would do the same job just as well.

We've made good progress since Craig brought the car to the shop and we put it on the lift. We're down to installing the BTM, the FM computer and the guages. I expect the car to be running today, if we don't run into issues...

Oh, and I welded shut that big gap where Craig cut the inner fender area for the turbo to clear. It's painted and looks much nicer now...

I opted for the non-fm side... and I love FM. It just looks cleaner. Of course that is just my humble awesome badass opinion.

Well today was a good day, and Craig got to drive the car. It's overpowering the clutch and making a bunch more boost than I'd prefer, but he's gonna be on the phone w/FM tomorrow... Overall the instal went well, and now having done one, I'm guessing I could do one in a weekend.
