I had never considered doing a rotary swap into my miata, I have no idea why. I wonder who makes the mounts or if they have to be custom?

A TII trans is just as strong as an FD trans and will bolt up easier. You can get a custom clutch disc (check rx7club) that will fit the NA flywheel and Turbo trans. The clutch size isn't very different, like 10mm or something - I think they almost fit without modification.

The FD trans might be easier to attach to your PPF though, if you care about such things.

When tuning with that setup I'd keep the hood closed and watch intake temps. If they are getting too high consider making some sort of different turbo inlet duct. Just because your filter is right behind the rad, and we all know how much rotaries love detonation.
I wish the guy i got the motor knew the right way to do the front pulley. I only knew about how to do it the right way as i had to do a front cover gasket on a NA FC.

There is no one i know of making the mounts to swap the 13bs in the miata. What i can tell you is the hardest part of the swap is making the mounts. The tanny is the easiest parts as all you do id deside if you want a NA fc tranny or a miata 5 speed. If you keep the miata 5 speed all you need is a NA fc bell housing and it will make everything bolt up. If you want to run a NA FC tranny all you need to do is swap the tail housing from the miata and your done. Any of these ways keep the ppf in place with out having to mod it in any way.

After i had gotten this motor running i started to take it all apart. I did this so i may start to make a new up pipe and downpipe ill take some pics tomorrow of how far i have gotten. I have the up pipe finished just need to find some one with a 3inch v band so i may start the downpipe build. The new up pipe has the turbo turned to allow a bigger downpipe and also let me make a better intake.

So i set a new goal for my car and me this year. Im hoping to have everything done and running for the East coast miata challenge this summer. So now my goal is to setup the car for time trial racing. The new whp goal is 350-380whp, im also going to switch to a HTA3076r to help with spool.

Here are some update photos, i turned the itb's around to keep the injectors and fuel rail away from the exhaust. Redid the up pipe so i can use a 3inch downpipe and the better 1.00A/R hot side. i also ended up adding to my water outlet to make the rubber hose shorter and away from the turbo hot side. Don't forget i also have a turbo blanket to keep heat transfer down. Waiting on the 1.8 torsen diff swap i got off six shooter, the clutch, and pipe for a new downpipe.

damn. you're completely re-doing it the right way. I like that

the non track crew could give a **** about a few lbs difference. I actually kinda like the fact that I'm not running same rims as 99.99% of the ******* miata community. Makes me feel special

But obviously the 6ul is superior in every way

Yes after looking at all my option i said **** it lets go all they way! Next winter i plan to build the other motor. Also may buy another turbo and get a second map for the other turbo. The other turbo i want is one of these two GTX3076R or a BW EFR not sure on the size of the BW tho as i cant find anyone online selling them. The goal and reason to have another turbo and map is i want to do the Miata Challenge for the east coast. So i would want something to spool even faster then the HTA3582R i have but i would keep the HTA3582R for those times i do stop at the drag strip.

The motor thats in it now is good, i had gotten the car with a bad motor turns out. I have been planning on building the motor i got with the car. Now as time goes on i miss my NB when i had a 16g on there making 350whp. That car put a smile on my face everything and i miss that. The big turn off for this is i can tune it. My NB i did all the tuning my self and it was easy. So thats why the feeler is up.

But its a feeler so most likely ill stick with the 13b.

You know, if you put the car on ebay with a nice high asking price of $20k or something, a lot of people might be interested. Most people think that the only way to make a miata fast is to put a rotary into it and there are not very many rotary miatas around. So you have a rare desirable commodity.

What is the big pipe just above the rack and just below the coolant hose? Is this some sort of chassis brace or is it part of the engine mount it looks very interesting.
