hustler 06-06-2010 11:04 AM

how much was that cage?

crashnscar 06-06-2010 12:38 PM

They run just under 2k from Tony @ TC Designs done like that. A basic spec miata cage is about 1500 IIRC

Relocated both fuses boxes to the passenger side footwell. Well fab up some sort of bracket to mount them high enough so its not seen and able to get kicked.

Got the main harness down to this:
Attachment 196751

In the process of soldering everything back inside the cabin, looming it all together, the wire tuck is going to be tits with this sweet 16 pin firewall mounded plug, everything under the hood will plug into this guy. CAS/Fuel harness/Oil & water temp sensors, Fuel pressure, and oil pressure. Going to mount it to the right of the clutch line where the hardline and "soft" line meet on the firewall. Everything will be braided together for a nice clean look in this sleeving.

Does that mean when you pull the engine, all you have to do is disconnect one big plug?

As far as wiring goes, it should be that plus the main positive going to the starter from the battery.

WonTon 06-13-2010 11:38 PM

As well as the two for the alternator. The wiring is never the issue when pulling a motor, its always all the other crap that takes the time up. I figured while i have everything out i might as well do it properly.

If you ever have the time you will love the end results for sure. Its about 80% done at the moment and i cant do anything but smile at how nice its become. The most annoying part is looming out everything you don't "need" after that it goes back into the car. Then trimmed down even further for proper fitment. The nice thing will be two clips in the bay just to undo everything.\

Must have pulled a solid 20lbs of wire out :o

johnmatt 06-14-2010 01:23 PM

I've thought about doing this as well. Except sometimes I hate wiring so it's not high on my list
