Default Sick 240Z build

Not my car obviously...I would never buy a Porsche or a Merc.

Body is too plain for what it is though.

It was listed on BringATrailer not too long ago. He wants $125,000 for it.

I'm all kinds of in love with that.

Have had a 260 (hi-compression 3.1L) and a couple of 280s(pigs)...and would love to find a good 240 or early 260 to do a V8 swap on.

Wow!

What I was a bit "wtf" about is the filter placement. Really? right behind the radiator? isn't that a no no?

OMFG, "$125,000 to own the nicest Z in North America that just happens to have 500HP/ton on pump gas."

I almost fell off my chair.

Incredible build, but that guy is ******* delusional if he thinks somebody is going to pay that kind of money. I don't care what engine it has in it or the attention paid to detail. At the end of the day, it's still an old Z car. It's not like it's an old skyline or anything.

Should have put a RB20 in it I think. SR20 is a nice motor but the smoothness of an I6 and the awesomeness of the RB motors cannot be matched.

heavy and shitty and doesn't even make as much power as an sr. stock or mod for mod.

Actually they do start out life pretty light...about NA Miata weight (23xx lbs)..and that's with the 6cyl.

I'm sure he saved some weight with the motor swap, and it looked like a good bit of weight in the interior. 430whp in a 2000-2100lb car with decent rubber should be a lot of fun.

BUT...it would be the same amount of fun for 1/10th the cost.

I was talking about the RB20 motor mentioned in the post above mine when I made that comment.

RB20 is truly a POS engine. Having worked on them some (helping friends) and doing a little research I was amazed at how inefficient and all around worse than an sr20 they are.

The 240z is absolutely awesome. Attention to detail and cleanness is top notch.

is it worth 125k? hahahah he's dreaming

Gotcha...my misunderstanding.

Yeah, he defended the 4cyl choice several times in the tread...and it definitely makes sense. I still remember the first one of these I saw...it was n/a...and still badass. Light, great powerband, efficient, great character, and fast.

I realize that dumbasses pay this kind of money for similarly restored musclecars...but come one...there can't be a market that supports a bastard 260 at that kind of price. Maybe somebody with more money than they know what to do with is looking for something just like this. In all honesty it looks like it's track ready, in addition to being a street slayer....v-bands ftw.

Agree the RB20 is junk and the SR is much better. I did tons of research when I was looking at a 240SX in my area with an RB20. In fact I think the RB20 can be bought for less than the SR20. If you got money go RB25 or 26.
